“Great family house in a pretty village”
Reviewed November 21, 2017 for a stay in November 2017

House was very comfortable. Excellent range of utensils & furniture for a large family. Kids loved the cinema room & choice of DVDs. Good communications from Katy.
Great Weekend - Thank you...

“Flexible and well-equipped house with lots of space”

Plenty of space for 8 of us, including some youngsters. Good to have two separate sitting areas, and that youngsters' early bedtimes didn't curtail use of the rest of the house. The cinema was a great hit. Well-equipped kitchen. Great football pitch and village play park just outside the door. Sam (keyholder) was very welcoming.
Nearby good eateries - Italian in Richmond, fish & chips along the A66
Plenty to see and do in our five days - e.g. castles, animal rescue, Thorp Perrow

Downside - tall people beware, as there are several low doorways!

“Perfect for groups - amazing for kids”
Reviewed February 1, 2016 for a stay in January 2016

We're just back from a weekend at Greencroft. There were 6 adults and 4 kids ranging from 7 - 15. The house was wonderful for us - loads of space, very well equipped and of course - the cinema! The cinema room is fantastic and we all want one! The village is so pretty - big green and play park one way and pub the other. Would love to return at a warmer time of year to take advantage of the garden too.

“Lovely home from home with everything you need”

Loved this house which was so well equipped with everything we needed and more we didnt! the games cupboard was great for the kids as was the table football. we struggled a little bit with the projection equipment at times so perhaps some instructions for that nearby would have been handy. The open fire was a delight and made the cosy lounge a lovely place to play cards once the kids had gone to bed. The Kitchen is well stocked with everything you needs including large pans to cater for the numbers involved which was a nice surprise as its something we've found lacking at other places. If the weather had been nicer the garden would have been good with its supply or garden furniture and BBQs. we will defo come again and have recommended to others. Double bed in main upstairs room was very creaky! Although there is a large selection of maps under the telly, it would have been nice to have a few walks around the house available as we ended up getting a bit lost following one from the newspaper but that didnt spoil our walk!

“Fantastic place for family reunion”

Awesome house in a fab location. I now live in Australia and we stayed at this property for an extended family reunion with 3 generations of guests aging from 2 to 75.
House is located on a huge village green which has a park and a small stream which the kids loved - very safe to let them run and play with no roads to cross. Traffic in village was very quiet anyway. We watched the village cricket team one day and the village quoits team another.
Kitchen was well equipped and we made lots of big family meals during the week. On the last night we went across the road to the village pub (The Stanwick) which had a good selection of English beers and the food was great and reasonably priced.
We spent a lot of our time in the summer room but there was also a dining room and a living room (which had a sofa bed - which we used at night). The rooms were big enough to all be together or to just knock about separately. The real hit was the cinema room which the kids and adults alike enjoyed most evenings.
There were toys in the cupboard for the kids, huge selection of DVDs and CDs.
Location was great. Easy access to the A1 within a few minutes - we travelled to Richmond Durham, Darlington, Whitby and York during our stay.
Everyone was sorry to leave and wanted to stay longer. Would recommend!!!!!!

This is the second year that my friends and I have booked the cottage for a weekend for my birthday. We all have a great weekend away with a fantastic atmosphere and a nice walk around the local village. From first point of contact on the telephone to out arrival, the staff have always been extremely friendly and welcoming. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.
