planned to travel around the Dales, but Tina and Paul's warm welcome, the amazingly comfortable bed, the beautiful en suite room with its own dressing room and the plentiful breakfasts kept us in Richmond for five nights. When we asked if there were softer pillows, nothing was too much trouble and we were given two different sorts to try out; we chose the duck down. The bed was a dream and so huge. There were games, books and even a puzzle book and sudoku in the bedside drawer - some pages now complete. The chocolates and wafer biscuits were replaced every day. Paul's advice on the local walks and restaurants were very helpful. The hot tub was great, especially after a day walking the Dales. The attention to detail made our stay just perfect and 5-star. Shouldn't really be writing this review as want to keep this place a secret for our family and friends. This gem, plus the lovely town of Richmond, the great walks in the Dales, have been a real find and we'll be back.

Very remiss of us not to do this review earlier. We stayed for one night while doing the Coast to Coast walk, and did not realise what a gem we had booked. It was an oasis, and by far the best place we stayed in. Tina and Paul were the mosr welcoming hosts, and their place was a real find. Everything about it is luxurious, with great attention to detail and a breakfast to die for. Nothing was too much trouble. The hot tub was the only thing during our 16 days of walking that completely eased all our aches and pains! Tina and Paul even recommended restaurants, and the one we chose- a Chinese- was excellent. We intend to return before Christmas and have a proper look round Richmond- and who knows, perhaps another (short!) walk.

Recently opened bed and breakfast in an old Victorian villa. The rooms and bathrooms are spacious. All the fittings are new, and the decor is nice quality. The breakfast was traditional but very well prepared. The owners are very welcoming and professional.
A few minutes walk from the town centre but double glazed and quiet inside. There is free parking in a side street a hundred yards away.

We were warmly greeted after a long journey with tea, coffee and cakes. What an absolutely 5 star guest house this is. You will definitely not be disappointed. Beautiful rooms, lots of lovely extra touches. Heavenly hot tub to relax in, the most comfortable beds, amazing breakfast, a few minutes walk into Richmond. Tina and Paul are warm and friendly and excellent value...what more could you want. Just wish we could have stayed longer.

After a short stay in Scotland, we looked for somewhere in Richmond for a couple of nights as we had not visited the Yorkshire Dales before. Using the local TIC we acquired a list of potential B & B's and set out to find one for our stay. The first on our list was the Arandale Guest House which was graded with five stars so we were interested to check it out.

As soon as we entered the house and met Tina we were smitten by the welcome and the facilities on offer. The room we chose was at the back of the house and it was delightfully furnished providing an extremely comfortable base for our stay. It also had a large balcony with chairs and a parasol to use.

The house provided every need for your comfort as stated in previous reviews but I have to mention something about the hot tub that is provided for guests to use. Usually, I am not into this type of thing but I must say that I enjoyed the experience, especially with the chilled wine(provided by Paul).

Paul is the chef and he provided an excellent range of quality dishes that were expertly presented. I had the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs and my wife had a fantastic fresh fruit platter one day, which again added to the pleasure of this stay.

The proprietors, Paul and Tina are superb hosts and they are keen to make every guests feel special. They certainly did that with us.

Having stayed in many different types of accommodation throughout the world, this ranked among the best for its overall expereience. We would highly recommend this accommodation to anybody hoping to stay in the Yorkshire Dales.

We normally stay in hotels and had booked the first time purely by chance. However,we enjoyed it so much that this was the second stay in the last two months. We had arranged to meet two friends as we had told them how good it was,
Although there are only three rooms they are all special with lovely shower rooms and comfortable beds,
Small extras such as towelling robes, sweets and games in the room are all thoughtful touches.
The garden area with its fabulous hot tub is a lovely place to while away a few hours. We took some wine with us and were provided with glasses and ice bucket along with fresh strawberries by Tina who along with Paul the owners go out of their way to make you welcome,
The breakfast is one of the best we have experienced using local fresh produce, I have not hesitated in recommending the Arandale to friends and family.. Richmond centre is only 5 minutes walk and there are loads of things to do to fill a weekend along with some excellent restaurants,

What a wonderful experience it is staying at the Arandale. Our friends stayed there a few weeks ago and recommended it to us, so we all 4 went along and had a perfect afternoon in the wonderful hot tub in the rear courtyard area, which was superbly fitted out, with comfortable garden furniture, large canopy in case of poor weather and a huge hot tub which makes for a relaxing start to your stay. The hosts, Paul and Tina, were very welcoming, and provided glasses (and a dish of strawberries) for our drinks. We could even use the fridge in the dining room to keep our own drinks cool.

The rooms were sheer luxury. Our room had a larger than King size bed with top quality bedding and lots of extras, such as a shoe cleaning box, a box of chocolate biscuits and chocolate bars to dip into, towelling bathrobes and slippers for going to the jacuzzi, and the softest sheepskin rug. The ensuite bathroom had all the toiletries you would need, very soft towels and a huge shower cubicle. We also had a separate dressing room with wardrobe, dressing table/desk, tea and coffee making equipment.

Paul and Tina were very friendly and the breakfast which they provided was first class. Everything you could think of to choose from and all perfectly cooked.

The guest house is nicely positioned just as you come into Richmond and has a lovely view of the church and the castle. Parking is on the road immediately outside the guest house.

Would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting a bit of pampering and will be going back again some time.

Pam and Peter Thompson
