“A must visit!”
Reviewed November 27, 2013

I used to go to school in Richmond years ago & haven't been back to this lovely town for years.
The Norman castle, which is remarkably intact for such a structure, dominates the market square.
Fantastic views of the town, the river Swale below & the waterfalls from the Keep. This is a great place to visit, if you are nearby.

“Great views and a lovely place to take a picnic”
Reviewed November 25, 2013

Definitely worth a visit. We live in Richmond and pop in on a regular basis with our picnic lunches. The views as the other reviews say are stunning - over the river and across the hills in one direction - the whole town of Richmond in the other. The shop is a bit of a gem when looking for kiddies presents too. A few extra facilities would win it 5 stars. X

“A fantastic view of Richmond”
Reviewed November 10, 2013

This is a must do if you are in Richmond. We enjoyed a very pleasant few hours wandering around the grounds and climbing to the top of the castle. There are some fantastic views from the top.

“Breathtaking views”
Reviewed November 3, 2013

Intact castle keep, exhibitions, gardens, castle walls and breathtaking views across Swaledale. Wonderful. The exhibitions above the info centre/gift shop are very informative. The exhibition about the Richmond 16 is very poignant and makes you think. One piece of writing said so long ago can still be said now and have the same meaning. Climb the castle keep if you can, the views are worth the climb. Will return again and again.
