“Traditional Sunday Lunch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 8, 2013

Visited this nice friendly Country Inn for Sunday Lunch.

Excellent choice of roasts as well as other choices.

The 3 course mene is good value is reasonably priced and portions are generous.

More importantly, the quality of food is exceptional.

I have the Roast beef which was so very tender.

As for the treacle sponge & custard ?

“Excellent pub food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 7, 2013

We hadn't been here for a few years and so had forgotten how great it is. Very good choice of pub food, - fish, chips and peas (mushy or garden) is particularly good, as apparently is the steak and ale pie, - my husband was less sure about his chicken in parmesan, but he ate all of it which surely speaks for itself! Portion sizes are big so unfortunately we only managed main courses, but everything looked good, both on the menu and on other people's plates! Nice pub atmosphere, friendly and efficient service and lots of parking. Added bonus was finding the second hand book sale in the porch (in aid of the village show, I think) - huge selection of books for only 50 pence each, - we came home with several recent publications which will be good reminders to go back again.

“Lovely little pub”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 31, 2012

In essence, a "lovely little pub" in the heart of this small village. Open the front door and enter a refuge of warmth (super fire), an inviting bar, comfortable furniture and very nice people. The menu offered ample choice and our plates were served by pleasant young ladies. Oh that pubs in South Bucks could extend their (bon) homie to that which is so plentiful in North Yorks - a fun Friday evening for us with a second visit to look forward to!

“homely and welcoming”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 24, 2012

We had sunday lunch here recently and they had had a problem with their phones and our booking had not been received however this was not a problem to them and they managed to accommodate us which was not easy as there were 6 of us. The food was excellent well cooked and a good choice and the members of the party that had dessert said they were superb and were all home made which is something you can't say of many places nowadays. All in all a very pleasant experience will have to go back and try the evening menu

“Consistent Quality”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 30, 2012

Since the Robson Family took over the Inn the food and service has been excellent. It does get busy some evenings and weekends so booking is worthwhile. An excellent range of beers is always available and the service always first rate.
