We often had a sunday lunch at Monk Fryston Hall and it was always excellent. It close down for refurbishment a few year ago and we have not visited since but I must make a point to eat there again.

I have been to Monk Fryston Hall for business dinners recently and lunch today was just as lovely. The staff were very friendly and the food was delicious.

We stayed at this hotel a while ago because it's pet friendly and we have two small dogs. The hotel is just ok but the real surprise was the quality of the restaurant. We have since been back for a meal with our (then) 1 year old in tow and it was still very good. In an area where there aren't many good restaurants (unless you go into york) it was a real find!

We visited Monk Fryston Hall for lunch on Saturday 20th October with friends, it was our first visit although we had already had good reports of the venue and its food.

The Hall is located in extensive grounds, which were explored after the meal, and in themselves were well worth the visit.

We were greeted at the restaurant with a friendly welcome and shown promptly to our reserved table. The luncheon choice for either two or three courses was well chosen and varied enough to suit our tastes. Having made our choices warm rolls were provided and we waited in anticipation for the starters. As the menu changed regularly it seems pointless to discuss individual menu items, suffice it to say that as the starters were served, their presentation confirmed that the food was going to an enjoyable experience; as it proved to be. At a very reasonable cost.

The quality continued into the main course with individual dishes of excellently prepared vegetables accompanying well presented and cooked main dishes. Comments from our guests confirmed that they were thoroughly enjoying this dining experience.

Desserts chosen from a separate menu continued to delight and were a testimony to the skills of the kitchen staff. We requested to be served coffee in the separate lounge area, a wood panelled room that was a cosy end to a superb meal.

The service from the waiting staff was polite, unobtrusive and very friendly and they must be commended on their attention and professionalism considering there was a large wedding taking place in the hotel at the same time. We were still assured a personal service despite the obvious needs of catering for a large party at the same time. I am sure fellow diners felt the same way too.

I would not hesitate to recommend this venue to any discerning diner looking for an impressive venue with superb food.
