Stayed for one night on 7th July using a Dealmonster offer.
The room was generally clean and the bed was comfortable. Furnishings are dated but the most disappointing was that, short of a major refurbishment, it could be quickly improved for very little effort or money. The headboard was badly stained, the main lampshade was broken and the toilet seat slipped off, taking its occupant with it if not careful!
Breakfast was also very disappointing. Food was cold by the time it got to us. Coffee was barely warm and very weak - think somebody mistook tablespoons for teaspoons on the instructions for the machine. The toaster has seen many better days and only just managed to put a light brown tinge on the bread. The one member of staff may be willing enough but clearly had had no training and didn't really have a clue how the job should be done. Not his fault but that of his manager/owner.
We wouldn't stay again, even for £49 a night for B&B.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the new wing at the rear of the hotel. They are larger and probably better furnis...

We stayed at this hotel as part of a Groupon offer. The pictures do tend to suggest the hotel is a little more 'country chic' than it actually was but after being a little disappointed we soon found it to be value for money.
We ate in the hotel on the evening and the food was fabulous. Staff were friendly and helpful.
The only thing we felt let the hotel down a little was the bedroom. On opening the door the room smelt foisty and when we looked in the wardrobe the wall was damp (presumably this was the odour we could smell) In general the room was dated and could do with updating. I must say it was spotlessly clean. The bathroom was tiny and again dated.
If the rooms were upgraded this would be a great place for an overnight stay, and compliments to the chef for such delicious food.

Room Tip: I would suggest you take a look at the room and if not happy ask to see another.

Looked lovely on advertising pictures but was disappointed. To start with the evening meal, staff were slow in responding and didn't appear to have particularly strong customer service skills. Then when the food did come it was almost burnt and lacking vegetablesfor one dish and there was a lack of confidence as to whether the chicken was fully cooked. Then an 'alleged' creme brulee but when it arrived it was a warm almost scrambled/curdled dish. The next day we were informed that a trainee chef, new to the staff, had been left on his own.
Then when we went to the room we had a problem as the light over one bed didn't work as well as the bathroom door which wouldn't close. We felt the place could do with a bit of updating (advocado bathroom suite!) A good clean wouldn't go amiss either feeling the sticky tables in the bar.

My wife and I went here on a KGB deal for two nights bed and breakfast with a three course meal with wine on the first night.
On arrival the greeting was warm and friendly by a young staff. The room was large with a bath and shower. The water supply to the bath was poor but the shower was good.Very clean.
The three course meal was excellent and the wine was a good quality.
The breakfast was good but a little cramped were the toast , cereal and milk was - need to have more space. There was a extension that was light and airy and pleasant to sit and eat.
There was a singer performing on Sat night but this did not affect the noise in the room.

This is a good hotel / pub with young staff that do there best and are very helpful and friendly. The hotel is just off the A1 and a perfect base foe exploring the dales without paying expensive dales price.

Don't expect 5 star luxury but a relaxed and friendly stay is there.

Since last visiting here the standard of food has dropped dramatically the meal on the first night was below average and breakfast the next morning was chaos bacon cooked on one side raw on the other. Toaster not working no milk best thing about breakfast was the brown sauce. The staff though very friendly and hard working were inexperienced .The next morning it did improve as I had complained the previous night. The room we were in was clean but the noise from the kitchen extractor fans was horrific even with the window closed.Would we visit again No.

We visited this hotel after purchasing a Groupon voucher. When we arrived we were met with a very warm and friendly welcome by Jack on reception. He booked us in and then helped us up to our room with our bags which was a lovely touch. The room we were given was clean, comfortable and well maintained. It had an en suite bathroom with a lovely hot powerful shower. Ample clean towels, shower gel, hand wash and a well stocked compliments tray. Housekeeping replenished our towels the next day.

We took our little puppy with us and she was made to feel just as welcome as us and was allowed to go into the bar at all times as long as she stayed off the carpet which wasn't a problem.

Now the best bit of the trip! The food in this hotel is amazing. Fresh, home made and reasonably priced. If you go you must try the Crispy Belly Pork and Chorizo Cassoulet and wash it down with a bottle of their half price Champagne!! I also had the beef baguette and hunters chicken which were both incredible. All portions are immense!

The breakfast is fab too, served in the really pretty conservatory it was a great start to the day. A good selection of cereals and toast, juice, tea and coffee which you can help yourself to and also a full English breakfast which was delicious.

The staff at this hotel are wonderful they really made us feel welcome and comfortable and really looked after us.

We would highly recommend a stay here to anyone!
