Cosy pub open all day serving excellent food, and plenty of it. Lovely roaring fire in the grate and Yorkshire hospitality. Good to know you can have food anytime. Some people having meals others drinks and a couple came in for tea and scones. Fantastic!!!!

Just come back from a long weekend in Cropton Forest and decided to have a nice meal on Saturday night with my wife. Out first hurdle was where to eat and we stumble across this little gem on here. Our next hurdle was getting a taxi home, as I'd tried all the taxi companies in Pickering (all 4) and none of them had any available. I rang the pub explained my dilemma and the landlord kindly offered to drive us back to the forest if we couldn't still get a taxi by the time we arrived. True to his word he gave us a lift back after last orders. That aside the pub is fantastic and has a nice vibe. The locals are friendly and the food is great and plenty of it. Even if the landlord hadn't offered us a lift home we'd still recommend it, even if you have to drive there and back. It's only 3 or 4 miles from cropton but you couldn't walk it in winter. Top pub and top food.

Really enjoyed our meal, stayed 6 miles away at the Forest Holiday site and read about the Blacksmiths Arms there.
Well worth the drive, friendly staff excellent food great portions and very reasonable pricing. Serving from 6-00 pm we called at 5-00 but were made very welcome until the restaurant opened, really enjoyed our evening and will be back next time.

Enjoyed a delicious meal in a relaxed traditional pub setting. Generous portions and very friendly service. The only dilemma is whether to have starter or desert. It's a challenge to eat three courses! Fully recommended.

We have visited this restaurant many times and always try to book a meal when we visit the moors.
I like the fact that the landlord remembers our names and we are always made welcome.
The quality of the food is always excellent and the service always good, no matter how busy the pub is. A real country pub, small cosy rooms, open fires and an ever changing list of guest beers.
In my opinion, still the best restaurant on the Yorkshire Moors.
