Different from Brimham Rocks. Less commercial but Special. Worked there when they filmed Blakes 7 there in the 70's if you can remember. Good for fishing.

“Where is it?”
Reviewed August 8, 2013

Okay, I might be daft, but after finding the location we didn't know where to park or where to go. The signpost saying go straight on then right (clearly marked as Plumpton rocks) led us to a private road with no further indication of where to go or where to park. We left very frustrated.

“Peaceful retreat from public”
Reviewed July 12, 2013

Plumpton Rocks is a truly amazing place if your seeking a peaceful day! We went with 6 children, 7 adults and a dog we spent the whole day hiding from bears, tracking dinosaurs and seeking fairy dwellings. We searched for lake monsters then had a picnic and played with the parachute. We ran, walked, climbed, hid, laughed, contemplated, searched and relaxed. Idylic if your looking for a place away from the usual "touristy" places. Cheap entry they only charged us a family ticket price for 3 adults, 4 children and a dog that included parking!!!! No toilets though so be prepared for a bush visit!
Children loved it, adults loved it, dog loved it.

“Magical woodland and lake”
Reviewed June 5, 2013

We visited Plumpton Rocks on a Sunday and the weather was beautiful. The trees shade from the heat of the sun and the rays through the trees make the woodland magical. There are lots of trails to follow and lots of hidden gems amongst the foliage.

I would recommend wearing sturdy walking shoes/boots and not be afraid of getting them a little bit muddy. There are steep paths and care needs to be taken on the rocks.

All in all a wonderful experience. We will return for longer next visit.

“Great on a sunny day.”
Reviewed May 25, 2013 via mobile

Our first visit to Plumpton Rocks was well worth the planning. We traveled from York so not too far to drive on a sunny Saturday. The rocks was easy to find and well sign posted. The charge of £3.50 for adults was good but we were not given a guide by the polite young girl (we didn't need one as we like to explore).
Its best to follow your noses and investigate what you can see. Fantastic rock formations and even better views of the lake. If you are taking young children bare in mind that there are a number of steap drops that they could fall from!!!!
Not busy at all for a weekend only 4 cars when we arrived but only saw 7 people while we were there (3 hours).
Take some good walking shoes/boots with you as it can be boggy in places.....heals and open sandles are not a good choice as we saw today.....derr!
All in all a great place for a pick nick and a chill out.
Spoke to a fisherman who said he camped there over night....but best check if you are thinking of doing the same.
ps.......go in late May and you will be great with carpets of bluebells all over the place.
