Very friendly cafe-restaurant in the heart of Knaresborough, just off the market square. Lovely quaint feeling to this building, dating back to the 1600s and is cosy inside. A fine selection of soft drinks and wines to accompany an excellent menu of freshly-cooked traditional meals. The owner/chef is very friendly and loves to chat about the food. We went in with our two sons who were struggling to make a choice, but he recommended the belly pork to them, not normally what a young lad would eat. It was so good that they still talk about it now. Excellent food, cosy atmosphere.

4 of us visited on a Sunday for hot drinks, it was a lovely place to sit and chat in. Nice tea and no complaints at all. Would visit again.

This is a simple and straight forward restaurant. Each of the dished we had were tasty, well cooked and generous.

When we arrived they rearranged the table so we could so we could sit together as a group - nice touch.

It's cash only so come prepared or be prepared to nip out to the cash point just down the road.

I'd recommend this restaurant.

I visited this cafe last weekend with my husband. We ordered cakes and tea. The girl who took the order was friendly, however the drinks failed to turn up. We had to order them again once we'd finished our less than average cakes. During this time (I joke not), one of the staff managed to drop a glass jam jar on my head! There are bottles and jars of drinks etc all around the shelves balanced above guests heads - so beware! Luckily I wasn't too
badly injured. However when I mentioned that I was less than happy to another waitress (hoping that we may get an apology) she went to get the manager. The man who came to speak to me was nothing but rude and abusive. He seemed to imply that unless I needed an ambulance, the whole epside had nothing to do with him. I have never been treated
so badly in a cafe/ restaurant in my life and certainly won't be returning. My head is fine now by the way although I did have a lump for afew days. I refused to pay for our food and drinks and don't regret it. If I had needed an ambulance I would now be suing, not just refusing to pay!
