Just returned from 3nights in this beautiful cottage. Everything that has been said on previous reviews are true, we couldn't fault it. Mike is the perfect host. We cannot wait to go back and have already booked for a break in the summer.

My partner and I had the pleasure of staying at Mike's wonderful home, to call it a B&B is an understatement. Gorgeous location, right next to the river, easy parking and minutes from the railway station and high street. Mike is the perfect host, sorting us out with a dinner reservation at short notice (can highly recommend the tapas and wine list at Carriages). The room was spotlessly clean, beautifully appointed and decorated, with lovely touches like choccies, biscuits and quality Taylors of Harrogate teas. Our room also had a lovely, private courtyard attached to it for our exclusive use. If this was a hotel you'd be paying double the rate. The breakfast was superb, I opted for full English, my partner went for poached eggs on a muffin with sausage. Wide selection of fresh fruits, cereals, pastries and if we wanted healthier cooked options they were on offer. All the food was locally sourced and full of flavour, the only thing out of a tin was the baked beans. I'd put the Teardrop in the top range of places to stay in the area, including 4 and 5 star hotels. Try and book Teardrop before you book anywhere else, simply first class!!

Stayed for three nights over the weekend. Mike the host is very helpful. He cooks as good an english breakfast as you'll get anywhere, and will advise on where to eat on an evening etc. , he even drove us to a wedding at Allenby Castle .
The property is right on the river and walking distance from the train station ( 3mins ) where you can get to York for £5 , and also Harrogate . Knaresborough Castle can be seen from upstairs and there is a lovely decked area to sit out at and have a drink . Mike is not licensed but will gladly open your bottle and supply glasses and an ice bucket .
Mother Shiptons and the town itself are easily walkable .
We had the pink room wich is a touch small and the ensuite is a bit of a squeeze. The other upstairs room is about the same size but has a huge bathroom if you dont mind walking across the landing . Both these upstairs rooms have standard size beds.
The downstairs Chocolate room has its own outside patio and a King size bed as well as en suite, this is definately the best room.
See my review on Carriages Bistro as recommened by Mike
( 4 mins walk ) .

We stayed three nights to celebrate our 25th.
Mike the owner just went out of his way to make our stay very special from the minute we arrived.
Teardrop Cottage is simply the best B&B we've ever stayed in.
The location right on the banks of the River Nidd is very convenient for the town of Knaresborough.
The rail station is less than five minutes away and the train only takes 30 minutes to get to York.
If you have one of Mike's breakfasts then you will not need lunch.
The whole experience was one of peerless quality.
The level of comfort really hits the spot after a hard day our walking in The Dales.
What more can you ask for ?
We will go back that's if we can get a vacancy.

Room Tip: Choose the Chocolate Room and you'll not be disappointed. Loved the bathroom - the walk in show...

As others have said Mike is the most wonderful host. There if you need him , unobtrusive otherwise - the breakfast is the best ! and we had great chats over the coffee and tea ! The facilities are great - the little touches in the room - sweet teddy bears - who came with an Easter Egg On Easter Sunday. The quirky rooms are clean and beautifully decorated. The location is superb. Nothing to fault - cannot wait to !go back - even if to just have a chat and a cofree with Mike ! Thank you for everything

Room Tip: Pink room is intimate but big enough for two and has a quirky ensuite, the brown room is larger and...
