Owner description: WE ARE NOW CLOSED FOR THE WINTER, WE RE-OPEN WEEKENDS IN MARCH 2018. Mother Shipton’s Cave is England’s oldest visitor attraction, having been open since 1630. Millions of visitors from all over the world have been enchanted by the park's natural beauty, mesmerised by the Petrifying Well and enthralled by Mother Shipton's birthplace and her amazing story. The park has several scenic picnic areas, an adventure playground and museum and gift shop. Themed events run during school holidays. The park is open weekends in March then every day from 1st April to 29th October 10 am to 4.30pm (last admission 3.30pm). There is parking on site (£2 all day in addition to admission).

We visited here on a lovely sunny Friday morning and had a pleasant stroll along the river and to the cave and well. I don't think it would have had as much appeal if the weather hadn't been so good and I must say that the prices for parking are misleading as it appears it is included in the admission but then you are told you need to pay an additional £2. You can use this all day and explore more of Knaresborough but we didn't want to do this so it was just an extra, unexpected charge. The little museum was interesting although the 80s tunes playing in there seemed a strange choice!

Visited with my mum (who is disabled) and my dog, Jade. Asked the guy on the gate about the suitability for disabled and he was very informative and honest and we were able to make an informed choice. Not at all suitable for wheelchair-bound people because of the steps, but my mum (who walks with an aid) was able to make her way slowly (with a few breaks) right down to the cave and well. Enjoyed the river walk, it was beautiful scenery and we admired the housing on the opposite bank!! Jade had a lovely time wandering around (on her lead).

Nice attraction, lovely location in Knaresborough, great riverside walk and the cave although small has some interesting history about it and the walks and story make it worth while. Cross over the river once youve done the cave and enjoy a spot of people watching and taking in the beautiful scenary at one of the riverside cafes.

Good information and visitor centre with souvenir shop and well worth the walk through the grounds to the cave and petrifying well. Would be even better on a summers day. We visited in winter.

Had a lovely walk with family and dog here recently, really enjoyed it. The petrifying well is really amazing and I love to see all the petrified items hanging! Kids were genuinely interested! Shame the petrified teddies in the shop are so expensive, I really wanted to by one this year but they were very small and too expensive compared to the last time I was here I felt.
