Stayed here this weekend with my hubby and toddler and from arrival to departure we were brilliantly looked after! Swift, friendly check-in and we were given a fantastic four poster room which was more like a suite with a large living/sofa area - perfect for all of us. The room had some lovely touches including bathrobes, well stocked minibar (at very reasonable prices), homemade truffles, fruit, and the piece de resistance was a fishbowl with Harvey the goldfish! A huge hit with my little boy!
The staff throughout the hotel were all extremely welcoming and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Hubby and I were able to sample some food from the restaurant, which was superb in presentation and quality. Shame we didn't have time to really relax and enjoy a multi-course meal!
Breakfast service was excellent, it ended our stay on a real high. The team were really helpful in serving my little boy quickly and the breakfast choice was great. All in all a delightful stay, very relaxing and unfortunately all too short. We would definitely like to return and can highly recommend.

Slightly quirky. I've never seen a fish tank in a bed room before! Attentive staff and good service are obvious here. Decor is a little bit twee but the hotel is very comfortable and well appointed.

Thank you very much for taking the time to post this review. The goldfish (they all have their own names and supply of fish-food) are a bit of fun to try to make the bedrooms a bit more homely and welcoming. There are so many bland, corporately-designed hotels out there these days (even country house hotels) that sometimes, judging by the decor, you could be staying anywhere. We try to maintain traditional styles of country house decor whilst incorporating state-of-the-art broadband etc so that our guests, we hope, have a comfortable and memorable stay. Thank you once again and we all look forward to welcoming you back to Judges in the near future. Kind regards, Tim Howard GM 20/6/12

Booked a night for our special occasion. Lovely room with a spectacular view over the lawns an rhodedendrons. The service was impeccable with friendly staff. Our meals were superb, the quality of the authentic French cuisine and presentation could not be bettered.
We have stayed many times over the last 9 years, starting with our son's wedding, and have never been disappointed.

Room Tip: They are all good rooms.

We arrived at the judges at short notice having decided not stay at the hotel we were booked in to further north. We were given a beautiful four poster room. The customer service was outstanding and the food was spectacular I have to eat gluten free which was not a problem at all. It was a delightful stay after what had been a dissapointing start to our weekend elswhere. The Judges provided everything we were looking for and then more. Superb.

My wife and I used the courtyard suite for our wedding last year and had a wonderful day. My one regret at the time was that we didn't get to spend much time enjoying the regular hotel facilities as we were only staying for the night of the wedding.

My wife organised a surprise destination for our anniversary and I was delighted to discover that we were going to enjoy another stay at Judges.

We were welcomed at reception by Suzanne, who helped organise our wedding last year and ensured a very pleasant stay this time. After a very quick check in, Suzanne showed us to our room, which was tucked away nicely at the top of the hotel and had a lovely view of the gardens. The room was brilliant, with a large, comfortable bed, flat screen TV mounted on the wall, mini bar, and sitting room area and, a book case with a few books (nice little touch and it really added to the overall feeling of staying in a large manor house rather than a hotel). There was also a speaker system that you can plug an ipod into, which was another nice touch.

The en-suite bathroom was fantastic: large with a shower (easy to use, good pressure and as hot as you need). There was also a bath/jacuzzi, which was a very decent size with a powerful jet. Brilliant for those aching joints! The piece de resistance was the TV built into the wall, meaning that it would have been possible to have spent a very indulgent/lazy evening if there had been time! I should point out that there were also candles in the bathroom, which was yet another nice touch!

We were treated brillantly by all the staff at Judges, who were friendly, personable and helpful and there were so many little extra touches that we were treated to because it was our anniversary (complimentary glasses of champagne, sweets presented on a tray with 'happy anniversary decorated on it) and the food itself was delicious. From the scones that we had a tea time, to the 3 course meal at dinner time and the breakfast that we were served in our room the next morning, I can honestly say that it was sheer quality.

Another bonus of Judges is the gardens, which are very well tended. We had a quick walk around to reminisce about the places that we had our wedding photographs taken. There is a nice stream running around the gardens, with little bridges and tucked away areas. It is certainly a pity not to enjoy them whilst staying there.

This is one place where you truly get what you pay for and I would happily recommend Judges as a place to stay where you will be treated very well and not just as another guest.

This lovely hotel restaurant serves, in our opinion, the best food in the area. The house and gardens are very pleasant and the service is welcoming and efficient. The standard of cooking is excellent and the wine list covers all tastes and pockets. The lunch menu is excellent value for money.

I am really chuffed to read this, thank you on behalf of us all. Although we are rated as one of the best restaurants in the UK and have been for many years (there are fewer restaurants in the UK with 3 rosettes than have a Michelin star) it is really frustrating that some locals, even without having been to Judges, still dismiss our restaurant because a: we are a hotel, b: they aren't familiar with some of the ingredients that we use, c: we are Judges, so it must be posh and expensive. This perception does my head in because, no matter what we do, we care passionately about making it special at Judges, to do it with warmth, hospitality and at a fair price. Please help us to spread the word. Many thanks and we hope to see you very soon. Kindest regards, Tim Howard GM 7/6/12

We'd been away and cut short our fortnight on account of our accommodation being poor. On our way home we decided to call at Judges for lunch to console our weary souls. Then the idea grew and we ended up spending a night there. We had stayed before a few years ago and pretty much knew what to expect. But guess what? It was even better then it had been - if that was possible. Lovely staff, beautiful room and wonderful grounds. Our evening meal was one of the finest we have had. Ah, the memory of it ..... Clearly Mr Howard and team have discovered the magic ingredient. That being attention to detail. It really does matter and it really does show

Reading this was a super way to start the week, thank you. I would say that there is no "magic ingredient" other than that I have a super team who care deeply about how we make our guests feel. Thank you very much for taking the time to write this review and we all look forward to welcoming you both back to Judges in the near future. Kindest regards, Tim Howard, GM 5/6/12
