I ordered food for my family. Lasagne was dry, gammon inedible and the burger was burnt to a cinder and when we asked for it to be changed they just cut off the burnt part of the burger and sent it back out again. I confronted the manageress who apologies eventually claiming it was the butchers fault? Does he cook it as well as kill then? and then she proceeded to tell me that they thought is wasn't right before they sent but thought we might be hungry. (Not that hungry love) she offered us a cheese toastie? cooked by the girl upstairs which was nice (maybe she should get a job in the kitchen?) quite clearly all the other chefs are out for their depth if they can't cook a sodding burger properly. The whole set is amateur and the attitude is very poor. Oh dear!

We came to the Royal Oak on Easter Sunday. It's was extremely busy. The layout of the pub is set up wrong for the carvery, as it snakes around the bar, making it very difficult to be served. Hot jugs of gravy are carried through with small children running around. All seemed to be very badly designed.

It appeared that they have recently extended the eating area, but couldn't get the number of staff needed. It was very busy, however, maybe they underestimated the number of people required to make it run smoothly.

When we got there the carvery had run out! But the weren't serving other food from the main menu for 50 mins.

I would imagine on a quiet day it round be a better experience.

The staff were helpful.

Easter Sunday was an extremely busy day and it does take a short amount of time to reorganize our small kitchen. We can only estimate how busy we are going to be on bank holidays and not being part of a large chain of pubs we have to staff carefully to ensure we are spending wisely for a small business. I do hope you visit us again and enjoy our varied menu as the majority of our customers give us great feedback and we are constantly striving to improve our service.

We found this gem whilst on holiday at Haven Primrose site Filey. Very highly recommended with a new dining area dowstairs and superb childrens play area upstairs.

Only one downside is that they seem to be very short on card machines as it is cash only upstairs.

Staff are briiant as well.

Three of us called in for a late lunch. Three years ago the pub was closed and it was pleasing to see it open once again. We have a friend who lives nearby so it's a handy place. Building work going on but not a problem. The ladies had the baked potatoe whilst I dealt with the steak and ale pie, very filling with the mash and veg. Staff very friendly and eager to help. Will be going back when in the area again. Car park with disabled access

If I'm honest this wasn't our first choice pub we were going to go to the Bull Inn as we had heard good reviews from there. But when we got there it wasn't open so we decided to go to the Royal Oak and we are so glad we did. The chips are amazing proper thick home made chips and a good sized portion as well. I had a chicken burger and it was perfect really nice chicken in a brioche bun. Would definitely recommend if your over that way.
