“Don't have lunch first!”

Brilliant, what an array of different cheeses! Go if you love cheese, take your taste buds on a workout and test the many varieties, then buy your favourites to take home. Then, as I will do, I'd suggest you go back for repeat visits, to buy more cheese, sample more cheese, and buy the real ale and other gourmet foods. Great place!

“Cheese lovers paradise!”
Reviewed January 4, 2013

Hawes is in Wensleydale, in the Yorkshire dales. It is a great place for a day out if you like Wensleydale cheese. The creamery at Hawes, about 250yds from the main street, is a fully working site. You can have a tour and watch the cheese being made, but the best place to visit is the cheese room. There you can taste around 20 different cheeses, mainly wensleydale based, but also coverdale, fountains, some cheddar and red leicester for free. The flavoured wensleydale is great. Today's highlight was the cranberry and raspberry cheesecake - a limited edition. I love wensleydale with ginger, and also bought some with pineapple. You pick up the cheese in the cheese room and then pay for it in the shop outside where there is a range of items to buy.

Besides the restaurant which has mainly cheese based meals the enlanged complex now has a good cafe for tea, coffee and light snacks.

“Great trip for cheese lovers!”
Reviewed January 3, 2013

We've visited the Wensleydale Creamery a couple of times now. It's interesting to see how the cheese is made, and the gift shop and cheese shop are also interesting. The cheese shop has every type of Wensleydale cheese, plus a few other cheeses, available for sampling before you buy. Also worth a visit is the on-site restaurant, where the food is great. Not all dishes there use Wensleydale cheese, but quite a lot do! Particularly recommend the Yorkshire rarebit on ciabatta.

“Crackin' place, Gromit”
Reviewed December 31, 2012

Anyone who loves cheese will love this small but well laid out creamery. Not only can you view the Wensleydale cheese being made but you can also taste up to 15 different cheeses in their cheese shop. In addition, their is a pleasant restaurant and the obligatory gift shop - where many types of Yorkshire-biased products can be purchased at reasonable prices.
The historical section of the "tour" proved quite interesting but it was the wonderful array of cheeses that won us all over.
A great place to visit for all the family, especially as it is situated in the picturesque Yorkshire Dales town of Hawes. Great scenery and great cheese - a crackin' combination.
The creamery tour costs just a few pounds each but the gift shop, cheese chop and restaurant are all free the visit.
