Excellent cottage for two. Cosy and well equipped.Very quiet despite its central location. No problem parking close by. Owners were very helpful. We would strongly recommend this cottage and it’s lovely village and area.
Scott Cottage is a well set up cottage that has kept its old world charm. It has everything weary travelers like us need. So good to be able to cook ourselves meals and get some washing done. Plenty of room - and a gorgeous king sized bed. Heating in all the important rooms. Patricia responded quickly to any questions. Close to a grocery store, pharmacy, pubs, cafes - and only a short walk to the Wensleydale Creamery. I would highly recommend Scott Cottage - and would definitely return.
Comfortable, cozy and perfect location.
Spotless and well equipped.
The only thing to be aware of is that internet access was patchy but suspect that may be true of the whole area!
Hawes is great - lots of good places to eat and drink and a perfect base for walking.
Scott Cottage is in the perfect location. Right in the centre of Hawes so easily walkable to shops, pubs, bank and the Creamery, but in a quiet courtyard so there is no passing traffic, noise or pedestrians.
Compact cottage, but cosy with a very comfortable sofa and cushions, enough space for 2 people. Bedroom is large and includes a hairdryer and bedside lamps so you don't have to get out of bed to turn off the light! Solid fuel burner comes with some wood and coal - it snowed whilst we were there so we had it lit most days. Wall mounted heaters are in each room if you don't fancy dealing with the fire.
Understairs cupboard means there is room to hang coats and store shoes. Kitchen is very small but uses the space well and has everything you need.
The information folder could include more on the cottage itself. There is a motion activated outside light, which is really essential when it's dark, but we only found the switch by accident, and it isn't mentioned in the folder. Also a heater at the foot of the oven which is lovely on a cold morning whilst brewing up.
We had a lovely week and would definitely return to Scott Cottage if we decide to visit Hawes again.
A surprising, hidden cottage of character and high spec. Located centrally in the village of Hawes and perfect for all the local shops, cafes and pubs. ideal for our weekend of walking in the Dales. We loved it.
Easily found from information provided, quiet location but within town centre so amenities easily accessible. Cottage is very well equipped however no hand towels provided and no hand soap in bathroom. Even in the very cold snap with all of the snow there was only one log provided for the log burner. Cleanliness could be improved upon slightly to score top marks as cobwebs in most rooms and bathroom walls and floor edges were grimy. However enjoyed our stay here and have recommended to friends and would stay again. Comments may be seen as being picky but I always think there is room for improvement and if no feedback provided improvements cannot be made.
