It wasn’t clear when we booked that the flat had shared access. The corridor echoes terribly and as a result we were constantly hearing doors slamming and dogs barking in the other flats. The door to the cupboard were the boiler is doesn’t shut and the boiler bangs about once an hour which was a bit concerning. The place seemed reasonably clean apart from cobwebs on the ceiling. The kitchen is well equipped but there are no instructions for the cooker or dishwasher and they both took a bit of working out. The pans were dirty so we didn’t use them. The dining table chairs have no padding left and the tiny 2 seater sofa is old and torn, you are sitting on wood. As a result we tending to sit and watch telly in the bedroom as the lounge was so uncomfortable. After half an hour we realised there was no hand wash, cleaner and the only bin bag was the one in the bin. I don’t expect there to be lots of items for the price but it was quite inconvenient to have to go back out and buy things such as soap for a 3 night stay. The park itself is immaculate and very well kept. The pub was very friendly but expensive and the food was terrible... how you can burn a burger and the bun is beyond me. We certainly wouldn’t be back and won’t book a cottage with a large company again, no care was put into it at all.
Booked a short stay at what we thought was a small house. Turned out it was an apartment in a large holiday village. The apartment was very well equipped (except for no hairdryer) but some of the furnishings were very tired.
We were given the wrong postcode so had a little difficulty finding the address.
On-site facilities very geared to families & dogs. We weren’t comfortable with dogs being allowed in the dining areas of the on site pub & overall, found the site a bit contrived. Not necessarily the best place for a couples break.
This is a great holiday village close to the beach and within walking distance to Filey along the beach - about 45 minutes, but check the tide times as you may end up with wet feet! The apartment has everything you really need, a well equipped kitchen, a good bathroom and a spacious and comfortable bedroom. One small niggle which we have encountered previously and that is the lack of comfort of the sofa in each apartment we have stayed in at The Bay.
We stayed for a fortnight in late July,.The apartment although clean enough would benefit from either replacement or refurbishment of the lounge sofa and the dining room chairs. The apartment would also benefit from a fresh coat of paint and additional linen and fresh towels for a two week stay, this would make such a difference. Moans out of the way, there were plenty of positives, apartment was spacious, and reasonably well fitted, all the appliances worked well, really nice location, close to dog walking nature conservation area's which make for scenic views with a local pond and plenty of space. Central location for day visits up and down the coast or moving inland if you choose. Lovely spacious beach nearby although quite a steep walk returning from the beach would put off anyone struggling with breathing conditions or suchlike. Local pub, pharmacy Italian takeaway and Leisure Centre, with swimming pool, gymnasium, tennis,, archery and other various sports available on site. All in all a good place for holiday.
Me and my family stayed at Filey the Bay, at 20 The Parade, at the beginning of October, for one week.
This has been our third visit to the Bay, we just love the whole set-up of this holiday village, it is so quiet and peaceful, and you have the beach directly in front of you.
The apartment 20 The Parade was spacious and comfortable, however, we were really disappointed when we noticed that
the cleaning had not been done to any possible standard (glass table disgustingly dirty, bathroom a disgrace, dark hair everywhere – we are all blonde…).
This was really bad. And to top it all, there was a note in the kitchen saying: Sparke and Shine have been here to clean your accommodation! They should better call themselves
Stainy and Tatty or something. This was a joke. Also, the windows had not been cleaned in ages, the bathroom needs some new paint, the sink is way too small,
and the bedroom carpets need to be removed, this is not for people with dust allergies or so.
It would be such a lovely apartment, but really needs some care. It is very rude of the owners to leave it in such a state, despite all the previous articles on trip advisor!
We won’t book this apartment again, we will go back to one of the houses we had previously, as this was in a better state.
Filey and the surroundings can be absolutely recommended for holidays, we also went to Scarborough, York, Sheffield, Hull and Whitby.
You do definitely need a car to get round!
20 The Parade is not to be recommended.
Great apartment. This is the 2nd time we have visited the GAP. Last year we stayed at Woodspring.
Fantastic site which has great facilities and easy access to the beach. Great for dog walks.
I have not given this a 5 star as there were a few issues namely done of the furniture. The dining chairs and sofa are so uncomfortable with a lack of filling.
The other issue was some of the bulbs had gone and no spares available.
Other than this a great stay.
Small warm flat with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Ideal base for touring the area and plenty to see.
