Three Tuns Hotel
Ranked #19 of 19 Filey B&B and Inns
Reviewed January 13, 2014

This place is a dark, scruffy pub, not a hotel as advertised. Access to the rooms upstairs is via the dirty smelly kitchen. We stayed 2 nights, wish we hadn't stayed at all. The room was dingy, cold, small and very very basic. Bath had no hot water, shower was broken, toilet didn't flush properly! Bed incredibly uncomfortable and pillows, duvet all rubbish. Breakfast inedible, we didn't bother to try it on second morning. The noise form the bar music unbearable (extremely loud bass & drum and late into the night - finally went quiet around 3.15am) and the smell of the place even worse (the whole place smelt of well used chip pan fat). The kettle lead wouldn't reach the electric socket and no coffee or tea anyway! Television unwatchable, 'snowstorm' picture with 'interference' sound into the bargain. We were asked for the full payment on arrival (I should have been wise to that one) and no one willing to discuss our problems and a refund when we asked. I wrote a polite but comprehensive letter to inform the 'so called' management of the problems, but they have not had the courtesy to reply (nearly 2 months ago now, so they are not likely to do so now). This is the worst place of stay I have ever come across, (it's not worthy of calling it anything else). All I can advise anyone thinking of staying at the Three Tuns in Filey is DON'T - you will regret it, I promise !!

Stayed one night for wedding in area. Was clean but definitely needs money spent on it. Booked originally through agency then got phone call to say it was double booked, blamed it on the company. Found basic room for us with shared bathroom, later rang to say en-suite now available. As it was difficult to find suitable place in area and could book in from 12.00 and only for one night we stayed there. Only had breakfast. Waitress went out and bought brown bread when asked for it, which was good of her, but should have in anyway.
Had to walk through corner of kitchen to access stairs to room.
This is a pub and not hotel as advertised. Needs updating on a big scale, on a plus side, staff were friendly and bed was comfortable.

Booked in February 2013 for 16th - 19th August as attending for 60th Birthday party which was for the full weekend. Deposit of £50 taken on booking. Luckily did not offer all of £150. Checked didn't need full payment until actual stay closer to dates with no hassall, but day of stay rang while on route to say would be later than planned, arriving at 4pm instead of 12 pm. Didn't get that far as man who answered said we did not have a booking and no use arriving as they were already full. Man said they had not been on line since September 2012, yet I booked in February 2013. He did ring "boss" and returned call but not from "boss". Again no use arriving and adamant I could not have booked. What do I do about my £50 deposit??? Send information. No. We are coming up any way. We'll find somewhere else to stay and will be visitiong you over week end. Response - Oh!! We did and luckily found a nice place though far more expensive. We visited the "hotel???" the following day. The lady we spoke to was far more helpful and said this had happened the previous week and was due to difficulties they had with a previous booking company. On reflection, if they knew they had difficulties should they not have post some sort of warning. On a positive we did get the money back with no notification or contact, but if you have a booking which you made several months ago please check again to save you the difficulties. I can't comment on accomodation as we did not get that far!!

16 of us stayed at the Three Tuns for the weekend. We were all really impressed by the staff, who were consistently friendly and happy to help (e.g. providing us with vegetarian sausages for the cooked breakfast etc). Considering how low the price was, the rooms were great: basic, but clean and fairly spacious, so we were very happy. The pub is in the heart of Filey so well-situated for the beach (5 min walk) and a huge Tescos (10 mins). We would all stay here again, and are thinking of making it an annual trip!

My friend and I stayed here for two nights , we received a friendly welcome and had our bags carried up to our room. The room had everything that we needed it was clean cosy and comfortable. The ensuite was clean and nice fresh towels were supplied too..
We just walked down the stairs and we was right in the heart of the Filey atmosphere , everyone is so friendly the bar staff were great and always got served quickly ... Breakfast was really nice freshly cooked within minutes and also offered cereals and tea/coffee .. Such a relaxing break can't wait to go back again..
The three tuns is a great base to visit the surroundings or a great place to chill and soak up what Filey has to offer ..
