Our second stay at The Bay, we stayed in a much larger property in Feb 2013. This time we stayed in a Helm. This was ideal for disabled Mum (ground floor double room), my married daughter and her husband and my wife and I. (Two doubles upstairs)

The Helm has a small lounge which meant that when all 5 of us were in there we had to use the dining table- but the lounge/ diner/ kitchen in one room lends itself to this.

Our house had a TV in two out 2 bedrooms as well.

Plenty of crockery/ utensils and towels provided as well.

This is definitely the way to stay with an extended family- the total cost was £600 for the Mon-Friday, split 3 ways makes the vacation quite affordable.

House was clean and, unlike last time, all the light-bulbs worked!

There are ALWAYS minor niggles (on-suite is tiny and the owners have not made the best of it in terms of hooks/ cupboards etc, the bathroom extraction fans do not switch off so a previous occupant had turned them off, the main bedroom is more Gypsy Rose Lee than boudoir) but these are insignificant weighed against the terrific amount of care that has gone into the pictures, equipment and furnishings of this house (No 3) and the site generally.

We rented a cottage which was just opposite the John Paul Jones pub. We have stayed at the Bay on several occasions renting various cottages.
At first we rented through Hoseasons but have founf it cheaper to go with the owner direct or various other smaller holiday companies.
The bay is lovely and the beach is a short walk away which is excellent for walking your dog.
Food and service good at the pub and a lovely swimming pool.
We will return again.

Took a late Autumn break so wasn't sure what to expect. We were very luck as we got a fabulous house (may be worth noting the address 28 Turnberry drive or road) really close to the beach and the leisure facilities. The house was well furnished and presented and it has lovely sea views from both the lounge and rear bedroom. Parking was a bit tricky as had to walk round to get to the front door of the house, but once we'd got everything in it was fine. It's such a quiet nicely located site and easy walking to the beach. We actually caught a bus at the end of the road to get in to Filey where we had a few drinks and then got a taxi back. we'll be back.

We stayed in a Chatham property in October for 4 nights (Mon-Fri). It was our Scottish October break so the site was pretty quiet, I'm sure it would be much busier in peak holiday periods.

Our house had 3 bedrooms and was lovely, warm and spacious. The fixtures and fittings were of a high standard and we had plenty of room for 2 adults and 2 kids (aged 7 and 4). The overhead rainfall showers were fantastic, felt really quite spoiled and am now looking into getting one!

We used the pool and it was lovely, not too cold and plenty of room to actually swim in. There was a section cordoned off for people wanting to do some serious swimming, a good idea. You need a £1 coin for the lockers in the changing rooms.

The walk to the beach is lovely as is the beach, perfect for dog owners. We used the chemist when we arrived to stock up on some things, friendly staff and although a small range of items they were reasonably priced. We had takeaway pizza from the Italian cafe one night and it was delicious, would recommend it. We didn't eat in the pub, ran out of time.

The Bay is an excellent base to visit lots of different attractions in the area - we visited Scarborough, Whitby, Staithes (where Old Jack's Boat is filmed - kids are cBeebies fans!), Beverley, York, Bridlington and Malton.

We will definitely return here probably to the same accommodation type as well as it provided lots of space and had all the mod cons you could ever need. The Bay is absolutely perfect if you are a dog owner (we're not), it's really geared up for them.

Wonderful and clean little houses fully equipped with everything you can think of very friendly reception staff. The onsite cafe and shop are closed in the winter which is disappointing. The leisure facilities were excellent and the little pub was quaint but could with being a little more child friendly.

We paid to stay in a cottage for 3 nights in Nov (family of 4) but could only stay for 2 due to school on Monday. The location and facilities are excellent, but there are a couple of things that let it down: The cleanliness of the house we were in was not up to scratch, crumbs still on the tables, dead flies on the mattress protector and dust in places. It was certainly showing wear and tear. We ate in the pub on the Saturday night and Sunday Lunch. It was the usual pub fare pub but the staff were quite miserable on the whole (with a couple of exceptions). There was no loo roll on arrival. we were told to bring a dishcloth etc which we did but no-one mention the loo rolls. There was a chemist on site that was shut. A snotty woman who answered the phone line said they do not supply them, however reception and security did come up with the goods. We had a fantastic time on the beach, in the pool and playing football with our 2 children and the bits above did not spoil our stay, however if I was staying for longer and perhaps paying school holiday prices, I would expect better customer service, cleanliness and staff friendliness. Other staff need to take note from the security guard who was exceptional.

Room Tip: Accommodation on Talisker Walk is near the pub!

We booked a three night weekend away via the Hoseasons website. The price was good and a good choice of accommodation for our family of five. We were keen on a place on the coast, but with facilities should the weather be too bad for walks on the beach.

Arriving on the Friday evening the staff were very helpful on check in and with our initial questions about the house.

The house was clean and tidy with all the items you would hope for. It was well appointed near the central area and path to the beach. We spent our weekend on the beach, in the pool and visiting Filey. We did use the pup but the coffee shop was closed, perhaps because we were off season.

We will be back but did think that the property could do with slightly better management - ie they are cutting a few corners that do not make sense such as having a log stove with no complementary logs, or facility to pay for them (we used drift wood from the beach!), no oven gloves or kitchen soap etc. cleaning could have also been a bit more thorough .

We did need to call for assistance with faults, but staff where quick to respond. There was a fault with the pool heating that was a bit disappointing.

Overall a good stay, with just a few niggles that did not effect our stay
