“Lovely stay”
Reviewed July 30, 2013 via mobile

Stayed at the bay for 6 nights in a 2 bed ground floor apartment with my husband, 3 year old & 4 month old. Booked direct with the owner who offered a great service answering any questions I had prior to our stay and it was a really good deal that we were offered. It also meant we could check in early afternoon and all we had to do was collect the keys from reception. We had a really lovely holiday and would absolutely recommend it - far nicer than any of the nearby caravan parks. The swimming facilities which are included in the price are fantastic and whilst the cafe isn't great it is ok and staff are friendly. The bay is peaceful and whilst the walk to the beach is hilly, it is pleasant and there are great views. Our little boy loved the beach. The apartment more than catered for our self catering needs although the reason I don't give 5 out of 5 is due to the overall cleanliness and upkeep of the place. I would definitely recommend the bay to anyone looking for a nice break away in North Yorkshire and we would definitely consider returning.

We stayed in "regatta" house , booked with hoseasons. we did get this as a last minuet deal so did not pay full cost. So for what we paid I can say it was good value. Nice house, clean ish & well equipped. The pool was nice for a morning dip & pub good enough to eat in a few times.
We went To the beach a few times, but as with all the coast lines in this area the tide comes all the way in leaving no beach to sit on. The site has been under construction for 5 years and is ongoing. When finished I hope they add a shop & bit more to keep you coming back.

This is a little gem of a place, my girlfriend and I decided on booking the bay as a last minute holiday (22nd-26th July) and we couldn't of been happier with our choice, check in was quick and easy, the apartment was spotless and very well maintained, the beach is close and very nice and wasnt busy and a good walk, we ate twice at the John Paul jones pub during our stay and was not disappointed (I'd recommend the burgers). The bay is a dog friendly place and we will be returning with our dog. There is only one down side I can think of and that is there isn't any entertainment for children at the bay. Overall we had a great holiday and will be returning.

Got back today from a 3 night , very expensive break to The Bay, Filey, took my partner and elderly parents at the Beach House booked through Hoseasons. First thoughts on pulling up outside, after finding it because there are no numbers on the beach houses so we had to guess which one was ours....oh my god!!!. Panoramic views...dont think so..straight opposite us was a building site...great start. Inside beach house, really nicely thought of in design but dirty bathrooms and stained cushions, also 1 toilet roll left for us and there were 2 bathrooms, asked politely at reception for just the 1 more roll and was rather curtly told " Well..it is self-catering", yes, I understand that but my quarrel was if theres 2 bathrooms then surely 2 toilet rolls would not of hurt, at £830 for 3 nights we should
of had gold lined rolls, however...there was a convienience store on site..erm..no, just a little pharmacy that closed at 5.30 friday evening and re-opened 9.00am Monday morning so if you ran out of little essentials then tough...back in car to local garage. The trip down to beach was not pleasant, still more building works on route and the beach itself left little to be desired, rocky and dirty sand with a nice little touch of left doggy bags , if the council etc want thier beaches to be kept clean then they should take a leaf from beaches abroad that have litter bins everywhere....simple!!. During the night, we were woken by the television doing its own disco with red and blue flashing lights which apparantly meant it was updating itself, did this on all 3 nights and there was no inside plug to turn the damn thing off so needless to stay, not much sleep and the beds were quite tiny, if you are a tall person, dont have the room with the en-suite bathroom cos the bed must only be 6 foot long. A few of the fixtures were loose around the beach house as well. Then theres the pub..booked in for sunday dinner as this was the only pub on site and did not want to drive for miles to find another 1..big mistake, food smelt and tasted burnt and the potatoes were brought out halfway through our meal..horrible. All in all, we were really dissapointed by our stay and we would never return...if we were to go on North coast again then Primrose Valley would be a far nicer place to stay

Firstly we were spoilt with four days of sunshine !!!!

We were stunned from the moment we arrived, it's like a little village in a gated community, the place is very well presented, each building just a little bit different. Booked a solo apartment for myself, partner and 6 months old - plenty of room a privacy - furnished to a good high standard. meadows, grassland, lakes, gym swimming pool, beach, views, pub, cafe, chemist all add to the place - only negative is the lack of an on site shop, about 4 miles to the tesco in Filey - other thing, could get 3G on the phone and not wifi. The place is still being developed ( new houses ) - no impact on the break tho !

Can't wait to go again :-)

We stayed 22 July for 4 nights and booked a new capstan cottage, it was lovely and modern and very clean. It had a very nice open plan lounge and kitchen and two spacious bedrooms, with nice modern bathroom. The patio area had barbecue, table and chairs and overlooked really nice gardens. It has a village feel with nice pub, café and leisure centre with pool. We went to the café and pub a few times, the quiz night on Wednesday was excellent and we had a nice meal there. Staff at reception, the café and pub were very friendly. We had to call maintenance on the 1st evening about the cooker they were there immediately and once again very friendly and sorted the problem straight away. We didn't get a chance to use the pool but it looked very nice and there were lots of activities on offer. We liked the walk from our cottage to the beach and visited nearby Filey and Flamborough whilst there. It really is a lovely place and will definitely return, the one thing it hasn't got is a shop which would be good but there is a nearby Spar and Tesco in Filey. Only problem wish had stayed longer the cottages really are beautiful and there are all different types to suit group size including apartments. When I got home and was unloading the car a neighbour said their family had been at Christmas and they loved it too.

Room Tip: All accommodation looked good
