We went in for a quick snack and drink, there where 2 adults 2 children and one teenager. When we entered the café I noticed signs on table saying do not move tables and no push chairs, I thought this was odd as they where scattered all over the place. My wife went to order a few coffees and some toasted sandwiches. I looked for the condiments and was surprise to find that they where tesco value range, as I was paying average price.
When the coffee came I had one sip and wanted to spit it out, it was so week and must have been the cheapest you could buy. I went to ask for moor coffee in my coffee and the woman begrudgingly gave me half a spoon moor. My wife had a cappuccino but it was made from a Nescafe sachet and a machine you get for twenty pound at Argos, she had one sip and left it.
When my sandwich came I took one look at the plate and went oh no. the salad was dead, and if I was at home I would have thrown it out, my son went to eat a piece of shrivelled cucumber but I managed to stop him in time. The coleslaw must have been tesco extra value and was inedible. I opened up my tuna and cheese melt to find one half had only 5 flakes of tuna and some very mild cheap cheese.
As we attempted to eat our meal a group of ten came in, they went to move two tables together to sit down as a group. The owner then got very upset and said can you not read the signs the oldest lady in the group asked what she meant and was told she was scratching the floor. Just before they all walked out she asked if she wanted them putting back, it left a very dark cloud over the place.
As they left a woman and child came in they sat down but the woman could see some thing was up at this point we just said sod it left. No one had touched there food much or drank there drink as it was so bad. As I left I said to the lady this has been the worst café I ever have been in, I think she left soon after.

They have a choice of many other meals and snacks but trust me the breakfasts are well worth trying and they are on all day.

I don't really like writing bad reviews. However given the level of customer service, or should I say lack of customer service that we received on a recent visit here, I feel I have no choice.

We visited Filey on a wet Bank Holiday Sunday. Looking for somewhere to stop for a drink, and to get out of the rain, we popped into the Rainbow Cafe. Our group was made up of 3 adults, 2 teenagers and a toddler (who was in a pushchair).

On entering the cafe, we made our way to a table. We started to take coats off, and get organised and almost immediately, a member of staff came over and told us that our toddler would have to sit on a chair, that she couldn't stay in the pushchair, and that if she couldn't behave, we would have to leave. We were speechless, since we'd only just begun to get organised, and there was no indication that our toddler would remain in the pushchair, or that she was badly behaved. We were also more than a little angry. To be honest, the only reason we stayed was because it was raining outside.

Given that there were 6 of us, we were never going to fit around one table, and one of the teenagers started pushing two tables together. The same member of staff promptly returned and in a less than polite fashion, asked if we could read, and pointed out that the sign forbade tables being moved.

Having been subjected to such poor customer service twice in as many minutes, we put our coats back on and headed elsewhere.

It might have been a wet day, but there is no excuse for such poor manners, or poor customer service. We visit Filey several times a year, but I won't be setting foot back in this establishment.
