“Ted & Pats short break in Wensleydale”
Reviewed May 17, 2013

Our recent 3 night stay at Heather Cottage proved to be an absolutely delightful first class experience. Charming hosts Peter and Angela were very friendly and helped us with really good tips on where to go and particularly local places to eat. Talking of food, Angela's breakfasts were superb.
Our spacious room was warm and comfortable and the cottage is in a great location for exploring Wensleydale and Swaledale also, with the lovely church and waterfalls at Aysgarth only a short stroll away.
We particularly liked the nearby village of West Burton (don't miss the falls) and had excellent reasonably priced food at the Crown Inn (Askrigg-good basic tasty pub grub-home made hearty puddings!) & the very smart refurbished Aysgarth Falls hotel.
We'll be back! - Thanks Angela & Peter.

My girlfriend and I had a fantastic stay at Heather Cottage. It's a charming B&B and I can honestly rank it amongst the best we have ever stayed at. The hosts were very friendly and the breakfast was superb. You really couldn't ask for more; fabulous accommodation in a beautiful part of the country.

On our first trip to the U.K., my wife and I, along with my aunt and uncle, visited the dales and stayed in Heather Cottage. We felt as if we had known our hosts, Peter and Angela, for years. The place was fantastic, comfy, nicely decorated, beautiful bathroom, breakfasts were excellent and the village of Aysgarth is so central for day trips around the Dales. The view of the rock garden from our room was great too. Can not recommend Heather cottage highly enough. We will recommend

Room Tip: 2 rooms, one with shower, one with bath, both lovely.

A warm welcome on arrival was given by Angela and Peter. A delicious home made lemon cake with tea was soo refreshing after a long journey. The room was elegant with a cozy bed and lovely bathroom. Yummy home made biscuits were a treat! Peter anticipated our needs, advising us of nice places to visit, and even went the extra mile of booking a table for Paul's birthday. Angela was soo kind in sharing recipes as I love to cook. Sumptious breakfasts were served, fresh eggs from their chickens. It was a truly enjoyable and memorable stay in a lovely home. As a hotelier, I can say that personalized service was excellent.

We have never stayed in accomodation like Heather Cottage - Angela and Peter's standards of hospitality were excellent. When we arrived we were welcomed like old friends, taken into the heart of their home (their kitchen) and offered lovely cake and tea. We stayed for 6 nights and really warmed to all the family. Angela and Peter even came to the rescue when I suffered a migraine - a lot of b&b's wouldn't go that extra mile. The attention to detail was exceptional. An idealic setting with idealic accomodation! We plan to return and spread the word 'down South' about the 'gem of the North'. We strongly suggest a stay at Heather Cottage!

My wife and I wanted to stay around Wensleydale and we came across Heather Cottage at Aysgarth. We do travel quite a bit and we would be hard pressed to find somewhere that surpassed this bed and breakfast. The owners Angela and Peter replied to our booking by making sure we had the room of our choice, the house is all arts and crafts theme, very spacious, warm and comfortable. Breakfast included eggs from the free range hens in the paddock. Good pub food within walking distance and Aysgarth Falls are 3/4 mile away down a footpath. Our hosts were charming with plenty of information if requested but otherwise left us to come and go as we pleased. We would not hesitate to recommend Heather Cottage.

Room Tip: Two rooms with different attractions, see advert, our bathroom was larger than some b&bs we have...
