“Beautiful peaceful location”
Reviewed November 15, 2012

Stayed 4 nights over half term in October. Kids loved the hot tub especially at night. Very quiet and very friendly staff. Only problem with accomodation was lack of shelves! Really nice layout, plenty of room. Even though cars allowed on sight was extremely peaceful - better than CentreParcs! Really close to Aysgarth, walked to see waterfalls, dog loved it. A good base to explore the dales. Kitchen excellent for self catering, plenty of equipment and space. Beds bit uncomfy but with all fresh air slept quite well. Loads of towels provided. Arrived early (3pm) had to wit 10 minutes but were then let in accomodation - as still being cleaned and checked. Will hopefully return!

Room Tip: Lodge 60 has a beautiful view and a secluded hot tu.

Four of us stayed with a dog in a VIP lodge (n0 21) with outdoor jacuzzi. We stay in a different Hoseasons lodge every winter and this was probably the most basic inside, albeit nice. Bedrooms/ bathroom and kitchen all fine. Sofa very small two seater leather, with a rip and not the most comfy. TV in living room was bedroom size, not really adequate. We may have been unlucky as other lodges seemed to have bigger TV's and sofa. Jacuzzi down the side of the lodge but no canopy like all other lodges we have stayed in, which would be nice in the British winter. We used the jacuzzi with a golf brolly instead ! No lighting in the jacuzzi area so cannot be used t- time onwards. The surroundings and plentiful walks definitely make up for it though. There is a pub within walking distance but we preferred driving to the Fox and Hounds in West Burton, which was only 5 mins away. It is a really nice quaint little village pub and both allowed dogs, even at night. Unfortunately, we did not use they bar on the site. It looked very nice but think they are missing a trick not allowing dogs, bearing in mind the majority of people staying near our lodge had dogs too. They missed out on 4 evenings of business from us and when we passed on an evening it always seemed quiet. I would probably not choose to stay here again as this was not as nice as the lodges at Keldy forest, where we stayed the previous year.

This was the first time we have stayed at Westholme Estate and surely it won't be the last! We stayed in the Leburnam Premier VIP (3 bedroom). The reception on check in and first impressions was first class, the lodge was also serviced to a very high standard. Our only minor complaint was that the third bedroom was a double and not twin as stated on the hoeseasons web site, this caused a ruck between my two youngest boys! The setting of the lodge was breathtaking and the hot tub was well maintained for constant use! The managers (Scott and his wife) and their staff where outstanding, the chef was fantastic. I recommend you frequent the Hendesons restaurant as we did on at least five occasions during our stay, Monday night is curry night! There is also some very nice resturants in the surrounding area, such as the George and Dragon (A+) in Aysgarth and the Sand Piper in Leyburn is particularly impressive. Local walks from the estate and attractions within walking distance (Aysgarth falls) and short driving distance to Hawes and Leyburn are well worth a visit (details in reception). A totally relaxing family holiday, many thanks for the memories.

Room Tip: Select the Lodges which are closest to the river for the best views

Fantastic get away, fantastic location to explore the Dales.
Westholme Oak VIP was a real Log Cabin, not a posh Caravan like we've experienced on similar breaks before!
Only down side been the uncomfortable bed and Ground Staff coming around on a morning without warning to check the Hot Tub over!!
Will definitely be booking again though to go back for a longer break to explore more of the area!

My partner and I booked this to get away from it all with our dog. Upon arrival at 15.45 it was very busy with check in being at 4pm and no earlier. Reception staff are very helpful, only down side to the pub is that it's no dogs so meant we spent our evenings in the lodge. The lodge itself was beautiful, mod-cons and the perfect size for three. I have to mention the super duper oven and shower. Both were ultra modern and extremely impressive.
The hot tub was also fantastic. Although it comes with a list of rules as long as your arm, it is very private and easy to use, my partner and I enjoyed the use of a hot tub after days of wandering and walking.
The location couldn't of been better either, not only was it a gentle walk to Aysgarth Falls that are stunning, it was within an easy drive to lots of other beautiful attractions and walks i.e. Brimham Rocks and Ingleton Waterfall Trail.
My only gripe was that we were in a semi-detached lodge and our neighbours didn't understand quite how loud they were.
However this was little more than a minor issue with everything else being so amazing. We managed to keep costs to a minimum as well with taking ready made meals from home, making this a reasonably priced holiday. We were also very lucky with the weather. I would go back here and would definitely recommend to friends, family and colleagues. It was a beautiful lodge in beautiful surroundings.

Room Tip: Semi-detached lodges mean you run the risk of noisy neighbours, however if going with friends they d...

When I checked in we were surprised to find that the owners of the lodges were from where we lived Ashington . I can't fault the lodges and the hot tub was fab. I was let down by the restaurant on site but I have done a separate review on it.

Room Tip: Get a Lodge with a hot tub

A beautiful rural retreat set in the undulating Yorkshire Dales. A spacious luxurious lodge with fantastic views from every aspect!! A private hot tub, lovely for relaxing, star gazing and listening to the owls!! A truely relaxing place only 20 minutes walk to Asgarth Falls via an authentic olde world tea room. Would recommend this place for both families and couples and would definately recommend this type of break !!!!
