“Another wonderful stay.... Gem of a holiday cottage”
Reviewed May 31, 2017 for a stay in April 2017

We returned this April for another holiday at the lovely Moughton Cottage, Austwick. As always, we were not disappointed. The cottage is in a great location for some lovely walks and bike rides. The pub in the village (The Game Cock) is great. We had nibbles early evening with a glass of wine which was lovely. Kate is a wonderful host and everything you need is in the cottage. It's a real home from home, tastefully renovated with original features which bring a wonderful feel to the cottage.
There is a small park in the village and also tennis courts which can be booked at the post office.
We particularly enjoyed our bike ride to Elaine's Tearooms in Feizor which serves delicious home cooked meals - they are the best!
Everything about Moughton Cottage is just perfect and I would recommend this to anyone!
We will be back...Very soon I hope!
Thank you for having us Kate x

“Lovely cottage”
Reviewed March 30, 2017 for a stay in March 2017

We stayed here for a weekend (wish it had been longer!) and loved the cottage. It's tastefully furnished, comfortable, and well equipped. The log burner makes it very warm and cosy. We would really recommend it as a perfect place to stay in the Yorkshire Dales.

Lovely comfortable cottage in beautiful unspoilt village, lovely quiet location. Excellent pub and hotel nearby for eating out. Also there is a shop and an amazingly helpful garage nearby if you need one (and we did). Great location for walking. Thanks to Kate for sharing.

A beautiful cottage in a beautiful setting . Lovely big living room with wood burning stove and a lovely outside private garden. Free wifi, secure parking and a very well equipped kitchen. Very comfortable beds and the pub only seconds away. A brilliant place to spend time with friends.

“Lovely cosy cottage in a fantastic village”
Reviewed September 30, 2016 for a stay in September 2016

We stayed at Moughton last weekend with some other members of my family for a walking break. We did lots of walking, 100KM during the weekend! It's a perfect base for the Yorkshire 3 peaks. Drive for only 10 mins from the cottage to the starting point.
Ingleton waterfalls are worth the visit, we went after there had been some rainfall and the waterfalls were spectacular.
The Game Cock Inn was a very nice pub and being just across the green meant it was perfect for visiting after our long walks. Make sure you book for food though otherwise you won't get in!
One thing that would have been very useful for us to know prior to our visit would be knowing that no-one delivers takeaways to Austwick. We even offered some restaurants only 5-6 miles away £20 to deliver and were told by one restaurant 'I've worked here for 13 years and I don't know anyone who delivers to Austwick!' At this point we gave up! Unfortunately the pub wouldn't help us with food despite there being a table big enough for us free.
Moughton cottage is very comfortable and has been decorated nicely, coming home and lighting the log burner was bliss! It was well equipped and clean upon arrival.
The village shop is just around the corner which sells fresh bread and pastries, but get there early as they sell out fast! This is a good place for buying your drinks and chocolate bars before you set off on your walks, they also have a coffee machine which we used a few times. The prices are reasonable for a local shop and the owners are very welcoming.
I would not hesitate to stay at Moughton Cottage again if we were in the area. All 5 of us felt the same way.
Thank you for sharing your lovely cottage with us.
