Have just spent the weekend at Moughton Cottage with my family and can say it is a 5 star retreat.
It was spotless, spacious and had everything one needed.
It's right at the heart of the village but due to the layout and the excellent walled garden you have the utmost privacy.
The garden is to die for and the south facing aspect makes it a great place to be.
Highly recommended and will definitely be making a return visit.
Our second visit to this lovely cottage and it was just as welcoming, warm and comfortable as we remembered. There is everything you need and plenty of room for everyone to relax in comfort. You can set out for a walk straight from your front door and spend the day roaming happily on the hills in this glorious countryside. The view of Moughton from the front windows greets you in the morning, whether bathed in sunshine or snow (both in the same week) so you can't wait to get your boots on and get out there. For our little explorer the village playground was a big hit and just the right distance to reach on the scooter. The village shop is great - friendly, helpful owners with a large stock of all sorts of stuff - if you can't see it ask because they seem to have a tardis in the back.

We stayed here for Easter 2015, and absolutely loved it, so we were thrilled to be able to return. The cottage remains as beautifully appointed as before, and immaculately clean. The food in the local pub has maintained a very high standard, but ensure that you book a table. The local shop has a good stock of the basics, and merits support. Whether you are here for serious walking, or maximum chilling, you will not find a more beautiful village, or more comfortable cottage.
And No, I have already booked next Easter!

This lovely old cottage in the heart of the pretty village of Austwick, Moughton is a great location for Dales walking or touring. The property has been beautifully restored and well-equipped. It provides comfortable accommodation for up to five people with two good-sized double bedrooms (1 en suite) and a single. There is a further upstairs bath/shower and a downstairs toilet. A small, neat and private garden with metal table and chairs will be an asset for summer visitors. The log burning stove (with ample wood supplied) makes for cosy winter evenings. All year round an excellent shop and welcoming pub are just seconds away.

A short stay , very enjoyable. Comfortable , clean cottage. Good local pub -The Game Cock and fabulous countryside. , A good location for walking . Ideally situated for the 3 peaks ,close to Settle and the Settle to Carlisle railway . The village of Austwick has an excellent well stocked local shop and all of the people we met were extremely friendly. Lots of pubs and restaurants a short drive away and very generally very good food and large portions. Definitely worth a visit.
