Always a good selection of real ale and lovely food - try the Carre Arms Hamburger !
Staff helpful and polite near to railway station and town centre .
Ample car parking too -ideal for a family get together or quiet pint .
We have been eating here for years and never had a bad meal .

We use the Carre Arms for overnight stays when working from our local office. It's ideally situated some 400m from the station and 600m from the centre of town. Parking is on site, safe and secure.

Expect to it to be a cross between a B&B and a family hotel. Whilst there is something a little unusual about the place, it always seems welcoming and provides more than you'd expect for the cost of the accommodation.

Downstairs, there is a great bar serving a good range of beers. The quality of the food served at lunch and dinner is really good. Also, breakfasts are always spot on and the staff can't do too much to be of service.

Wifi is free and powerful enough to use when contacting friends and family via Skype/FT etc. The bedrooms and ensuites, whilst a little dated are always clean and warm. TV's are a little small and some unusually placed, but this is not really a problem.

All in all, The Carre Arms is a great little place, ideal for a nights stop over with good beer and food. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending it!

Room tip: Try the food downstairs. You shouldn't be disappointed

We found this a comfortable hotel with friendly staff. Try the homemade jams for sale at very reasonable prices. Slight gripes: The sockets in the rooms could have been closer to the kettle and the bath was on the small side in our room (25). Basic Wi-Fi was a bit limited too unless paid for which was a bit naughty as the room was £87. Plus side: The breakfast was extensive and good and the room had a huge comfortable bed!

Averaging 3 days a week for over a year, nothing is too much trouble, food is excellent, people are exceptionally friendly. Very comfortable beds and rooms. My preference was for a double room with bath and this was provided almost every visit. I will definitely return when I work in this area again, highly recommended. Thanks to Lisa, Mick and all of their staff for making me so welcome.

Room tip: Rooms 24, 28 are largest but all rooms very comfortable.

Stayed on business. We had 3 singles and a double single occupancy. Every person noted how comfortable the beds were. The hotel and the staff are kept to a high standard. The breakfast was great especially the sausages. The wifi was very slow so that could do with upgrading in this day and age, I couldn't Skype my kids!! There is an option to buy faster wifi for £4.50 but you shouldn't really have to pay extra for a decent connection. Should be in on the price. Would stay again.
