Shakesby's doesn't pretend to be anything other than what it is...a relaxing and pleasant restaurant with a menu to suit most people. The decor is bare bricks which have been softened by the clever use of fairy lights. Two weeks ago I had my first disappointing dish but pheasant can be a risk . However we returned last week for "Beat the Clock" (excellent value ! ) and standards were back up to normal ."Beat the Clock" is a wonderful facility for those wanting to go on to the theatre or cinema or somewhere to unwind after a busy day . My companion and I will continue to recommend this lovely little market town restaurant .

I went for a family meal at Shakesby's and although the service was excellent and the staff attentive the choice was a bit limited, especially for veggies.
One family member was unhappy with their lamb that was presented so rare it was practically bleating. It took a while to be cooked some more and by the time it came back the rest of us had finished our meals, which spoiled things a bit.
There was no sweet white wine on offer either.
Otherwise the venue and ambience were good and the quality of the food acceptable.

It is the first time we have visited the restaurant , and we weren't disappointed. The menu was not overwhelming and it gives lots of choice.
The starters were very very good and presentation exceptional. The mains again were very good with a good selectin of menu choice. The deserts were just brilliant !!! A lovely resturant

I visited here on a recommendation from friends and it lived up to the hype.

Starter was partridge which was outstanding. Main was lamb, again outstanding and washed down with Argentinian Malbec.
