“Top marks for the meal”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 8, 2012

We took our group of walking friends for a ramble on The Wolds on Saturday afternoon - too many stiles and miles and cows and hills they said and only gave us 7.5/10 for the walk. No such problem with the meal - 9/10 (they never give 10/10). We can thoroughly recommend the King Prawns and Goats Cheese and Red Mullet starter and Pie of the Day and Lamb Shank. Excellent service £172/6 - including 2 puddings (all we could manage), 4 coffees and drinks.

“Great British Locally Sourced Food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 13, 2012

Great ambiance, attentive staff and fabulous food. Local asparagus wrapped in parma ham, whole smoked trout, braised blade of beef, goats cheese and vegetable pudding - there is something here for everyone. We ate here two evenings in a row and were well satisfied on both occasions.

“Good restaurant, just a couple of improvements needed !”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 11, 2012

This is a good restaurant on the whole. The only criticisms I have are that they don't sell any sweet white wine and they don't ask you how you like your meat cooked. My brother ordered lamb and when it came it was so rare it was practically bleating !

“Wonderful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 23, 2012

Found this little gem after reading trusty TA reviews and staying in the area for my fiances birthday. It was a lovely little place with really friendly staff and felt really inviting. Had goats cheese starter and rib eye steak and home made chips for main, all were excellent, very delicious indeed. Fairly reasonable too for a fine dining restaurant. Only niggle would be the wooden tables and chairs feel more bistro style than fine dining, but the restaurant has charm and character and we would go back if in the area, first class!
