Stayed for 2 nights over a weekend as we were going to a family wedding. Very handy for train station. A bit wary as we walked up through lovely garden areas and past the beautiful church, we had to pass through several groups of youngsters/adults worse for wear on alcohol/ shouting swearing really unnerving. Staff at hotel very friendly and helpful. All other areas tired, dated in everyway. Our room was the same the furniture was badly stained, mattress awful. It was very hot and opened windows to combat this only to have pigeons flying up to ledge and trying to get through into room. This must have happened before as we then noticed pigeon droppings on inside of glazing unit. Not good!!!! Breakfast was very good and restaurant staff pleasant and helpful. We did not see any signs of a refurb taking place anywhere in this hotel. But with major overhaul of the hotel it would be a good hotel. The staff are already good shame with what they have to work with,
