Executive Double Room (1 night July 2012)

PLUS: Very comfortable, nicely furnished room. Excellent view over the estuary to Spurn Head. Breakfast choice and food excellent, pity the coffee was not topped up, but I finished wife's large pot of tea instead!

MINUS: Although disability was mentioned in online booking, it appeared to have been ignored. Bathroom very basic without grab rails etc. Shower enclosure dirty around edges and drained badly. TV too small by today's standards. Curtains did not overlap, leaving slight gaps. Lift rather ancient, and loose floor made "clonk" on entering. Bed very creaky, with old-style blankets and no duvet. Meal prices far too high so ate elsewhere, and menu on website was for the previous day. Overpriced compared with the other four nights of our trip.

This hotel is very charming and in my book just how little seaside resorts should be, I stayed as a party of 4 thirtysomething lads who were booked on a seafishing trip in grimsby and chose this hotel on the strenght of the tripadvisor comments.

The hotel is a mix of ages but it all draws togther very well and is maintanied to decent standard. We got there late on a friday evening and the bar was still open. It was very popular with guests enjoying celebrations and special occasions and the staff were very friendly. The rooms (two twins) were clean and tidy but the beds were way too soft for my likeing and would suggest could do with replacing in the future.

We were up very early for our fishing trip and were greeted by two fantastic ladies serving breakfast, the banter and charm was brilliant and along witha first class breakfast with loads of choice we set off for the day. 16 hours late a pile of fish we returned and ventured our into cleethorpes for food, the choice here is very good and the resort can be a bit lively but very well kept.

Parking at the hotel is very good, and the staff all around the hotel are very friendly and very accomodating. 10/10, couldnt have asked for more. well done

My small 4 year old son and I stayed at the Kingsway for the evening in order to visit relatives whom live in the area. A Friday night in Cleethorpes ahead I thought the worst as my childhood in the area left bruises from many years before. The hotel has a lovely position virtually on the beachfront and although they have certainly tidied up their act the beech still cannot get away from the Humber, never the less the beach was beautifully kept and has changed significantly from years previous. I opted for the executive room in the Kingsway guaranteeing a beach view for my son, it was pricey £110 for the evening, and considering I watched a BBC report on TV a few nights before on dropping trade in the area I was somewhat surprised that prices had not dropped at the Kingsway. The hotel is nice, it does everything a hotel should do, the rooms are ok, not spectacular, they are incredibly clean (A great point to make), the decor is oldish and the beds have sheets and blankets, again, clean but duvets are the mainstay for bedding these days. Given the day and evening we spent was rather hot, there was no air conditioning and the windows could only open slightly (safety reasons). TV small but again no issues. The breakfast was great, the staff wonderful so no problems with feeding both me and the little one. The car park is small and has no preference to residents when the restaurant is full, so although I had booked a room I had to park in the street, not good.

All in all a decent stay.

Very pricey for what it offers and for that reason would not stay again. Does what it says on the tin but that is all it does.

Room Tip: Beach view is pricey and would give a good room

We stayed here on the weekend of 29 July and thoroughly enjoyed this charming hotel. The staff are all really welcoming. The place has a unique quirky quallity that you don't get in the chains. The rooms are very comfortable with some great views, spotlessly clean. There's a lovely roof terrace and fascinating engravings and maps in the various public rooms.

The food served was excellent - superb English breakfast and a great dinner menu, changing daily, reasonably priced but served with style.

Overall a lovely weekend that didn't break the bank. It's really great to experience such brilliant hospitality.
Keep up the good work!

Room Tip: ASk for a sea view

Yes it's old fashioned.
Yes it's a bit stuffy
But it's well maintained
Welcoming
Comfy.
Been coming here on business for years..... Best in area.
One complaint.......ignore that twit from environmental health and reinstate the twiglets on the bar...nothing dangerous would grow on them and you have been dispensing them for years........

Typically I prefer the "faceless, nameless" hotel chains, but found myself in Cleethorpes and chose this hotel. It was a good choice. I had a room one floor up with a view across to the beach. Was nicely decorated and had everything that I wanted. One thing that is important to know is that I did not see an elevator: there might be one, but I don't recall seeing it.

Our overnight stay here was, admittedly, on one of the nicest days of the year so far - sunny, warm and not windy but it was wonderful. We had a superior room overlooking the beach which was great particularly first thing in the morning with the sun coming up. The rooms are a little dated but that all adds to the charm of the place (although the beds are a bit small), the service is second to none- breakfast good, didnt eat in the restaurant in the evening but seeing how busy it was looks as though the Kingsway still maintains its good reputation locally.

Room Tip: Superior overlooking the sea.
