The two of us had booked at table for 8pm on a Saturday evening. We arrived about 7.40 and thought we'd have a drink outside in the front patio area. 8 O'Clock came and went, and eventually my wife asked for a menu. We were eventually shown a table at 8.30.
(We'd both ordered steaks and antipasti for starters. )
8.40 came and no starters had arrived. We asked if they were on there way, and were told there was a kitchen holdup as they were so busy! No waitress at any time told us this, up till the point we asked!
At 8.45, the steaks arrived (THEY HAD COMPLETELY FORGOT THE STARTERS!) I was going to send the steaks back, but as my wife was to hungry to wait any longer, so we kept the steaks, and said "Forget the starters".
We weren't offered a wine list, until we asked for one! At one point my wife asked for something from a waitress, & the waitress gave a slightly condescending "yes - yes" as she walked away.
The steaks them selves, were excellent - very enjoyable. The hand cut chips, were nice but both thought they could have been in the frier a little longer. The salad was also nice, but a bit more of it would have been welcome!
The restaurant is low light, with candles on the tables. An ideal place for a romantic meal for a couple...... but the background music was rock! and sometimes heavy rock! Totally inappropriate.
We brought up all the points above at the end of the evening with one of the waitresses. She was very nice, and apologetic. I assume she'll pass the points on to management.
It was out first visit in over two years, and to be truthful we expected a higher level of service rather than what we got, which was at times was incompetence !
