just stayed here, brilliant hostel, shower cubicule was small but very warm and amazing blast from head, cant agree enough with other reviews the hostel is clean and bright. lovely area and very close to rutland water

Room Tip: the 3 back rooms are very noisy if you sleep with window open as there is a metal box on wall for the fire sheet, so when it rains you hear tapping all night long!

A real get away from it all type of place. This village has a pub (amazing meal), post office/shop & a hostel. Secure bike parking, hot power shower, clean & tidy rooms. This hostel is self catered and closed in the afternoon for new arrivals. Get there before 10am or after 5pm to check in. I didn't hang around but there is information easily found in the lounge area on walks, local attractions and places to eat/numbers for the take away. Very clean & well organised. No wifi.. (a good thing). A building with character.

stayed here for two nights to explore the area, arrived around 3pm but couldn't get into hostel as this one only has volunteer mangers,(didn't see that on the yha website) so if it was raining and you arrived early then you would get wet,
the room was ok,the kitchen was fantastic and the lounge area was great, the shower was rather small for my tall size, the manager(roy)who was on "deal or no deal" was very helpful and friendly,
the location is very good with shop and pub not far away, went to Stamford and had a great time,,

Room Tip: freedom to do your own thing, luv it

I stayed in a female dormitory for one night in April, the first day of the season apparently. Although staffed by volunteers who'd only arrived that day, the hostel appeared well run and the staff were friendly and helpful.

The dormitory slept six - including a double bed - but the room didn't feel at all cramped with all those beds in. Vaulted ceilings with wooden beams were a feature of the room and all the beds came with their own lockbox for security.

The self-catering kitchen had everything you could need and the whole place was clean and cheerful. For £10 a night (with YHA membership discount) you'd be hard pressed to find anything better in the area.

We booked the whole place for a break for an extended family, 19 people in ages 2-73.
A great place to stay, comfortable beds, warm (possible too warm but OK once the rads were turned down), large kitchen, large dining room. The lounge wasnt quite big enough for 19, but we squeezed in.
The on-site warden (Steve) was very helpful before and during our visit.
Close to Burghley House and Rutland Water.
Could fault the place for a reasonably priced venue.
