Went for Sunday lunch to celebrate the mother in laws Birthday yesterday. First impressions aren't great coming in from the car park though an uncared for smokers area. The general decor is best described as tired. Very tired. Although in fairness there are plans on display advertising an upcoming refurb.

Bar service was speedy enough for a busy Sunday.

What was by far the worst feature of the visit though, was the wait. Having booked for 1.30pm, we did get given a table by about 1:50pm but this was followed by about another 20 - 25 minute wait before being allowed to go to the carvery. Apparently they operate this policy in order to reduce queuing -- but we still ended up in a queue.

No complaints about the food but overall there are better carveries around.

Have stayed here before but recently stayed one night. Friendly and helpful staff, clean and comfortable rooms and bed, but generally tired looking. Very good breakfast. I believe the Hotel is going to be refurbished shortly so will go again sometime.

Room Tip: Always ask for back of Hotel, as quite noisy at the front, according to my friends.

Just to clarify I didn't end up staying at this hotel as I knew my wife would not like the room so can't comment on the services etc. went to room after checking in and that was all I needed to do. Room could certainly be better and the £50 per night (room only!) price tag not at all justified by first impression.
Told reception I would not be stopping and the second night was refunded with no qualms (happy to pay the one night, standard!)
Deep clean required, net curtains filthy, windowsills grubby, mattress appeared old & past it.
If rate was c£30 per night then room would be more acceptable (when cleaned)
Friendly check in/out

We got here on a Sunday night and we were promptly checked in. The room was small and cosy and had an ensuite. The shower was hot and powerful. The bed was not comfy at all and they need upgrading. The breakfast was amazing. The lovely young blonde lady cooks an amazing feast, it kept us full until dinner.

Four of us stayed for one night in two twins. In our room, all but one light did not work. The shower had a sign next to it saying, "Beware. The temperature of the water may fluctuate" Yes, it did from very hot to very cold. In the other room, the TV didn't work. There is a good atmosphere in the bar in the evening and a pleasant outdoor area at the back. The bar staff were friendly. Parking is possible in front or rear of the hotel. At £50 per room it is not cheap. Breakfast at an extra £6 is a full fry up. No continental breakfast in evidence. We had to ask for orange juice that had run out before our arrival, despite few people having breakfast. Similarly, we had to ask for butter. The waitress ( and I'm being generous describing her like that ) considered our requests an inconvenience. I will not be returning.

Room Tip: Ist floor a shorter walk than 2nd

Went here for meal out with my sisters, because one of them loves it!

Food is basic but plentiful, hot and good for price, the waiter was very friendly, helpful and attentive, it could have easily fitted in to any good restaurant.

The food is good value, but I'm giving it average as their vegetarian dishes are a bit unimaginative and that my main seemed to be microwaved as cheese topping was melted and not browned. It's not the best restaurant in the town but certainly not the worst.

You get what you pay for, this is good basic food at a reasonable price.
