Stayed at the Grange with my wife July 20th and 21st 2 nights, quaint guest house that takes a bit of time to get used to. we stayed at the front of the house but the rear of the house over looks the fields with a balcony view. The rooms are of a self catering type with double bed (small), wardrobe a couple of chairs en suite bathrooms (ours only had a shower) with a fridge, 2 ringed electric stove microwave, sink and a breakfast bar with plates cups kettle knives and forks etc. the fridge has your breakfast in with bread, butter, orange juice, milk yogurts, jams and marmalade and also tea, coffee and sugar so theres no messing having to rush down for breakfast, the rooms also have a TV. The grange is situated to the south of Melton Mowbry on the A606 about a 3 minute drive away. Melton has lots of food outlets and pubs so you cannot really go wrong, Saturday was very busy with the market and the lovely sunshine plus the opening of a new shop on Sherrard street called Bargain Buys was the reason i was there. Anyway if you do visit Melton Mowbry for the 2 markets (Saturday and Tuesday) or for the local pies/cheese and fancy staying over then look up the Grange country house, with its creeking stair case and big ben clock that chimes on the hour, its not your normal travel lodge but i really liked it, its old, rustic and lived in and together with the self catering touch it really works..and for 2 nights double room B&B £110.00 all in what more need i say.. and its cheaper if you dont book on line, just give them a call.. Happy Days..

Room Tip: When booking ask for a rear south facing room with a balcony if possible.. ask for the yellow room..

We have just returned from a very enjoyable weekend here. It is in a great location for visiting the
very bustly ld Melton Mowbrey .
Lady that greeted us was very friendly and told us loads about the area. Our room had everything you
needed and was fair for the price paid. Liked the breakfast in room idea.
Plenty pf parking space.
Would visit again.

Room Tip: Ask for the room with a balcony.

Lovely view from room, shame garden furniture covered in green mould which we had to wipe off to sit down. Very tired, decorative order both inside and out but clean enough! Has so much potential could be truly gorgeous.

We agreed with the last reviewer that the person who showed us to our room was charming - very useful and recommended places to eat and visit nearby. We stayed in a good sized room with a lovely view over miles of countryside - much more peaceful than when we have stayed in Melton Mowbray itself. The room and bathroom aren't in the most perfect of decorative order, but at least everything was perfectly clean. They don't do cooked breakfasts in this B&B - they leave continental style food in the fridge in the room - cereals and croissants etc all fine.
We were able to get wifi - just ask the owners for the password.
Given that the rates are pretty low for the country setting, we would certainly consider staying again next time we're in the area.

Booked via phone, very helpful. On arrival was shown to room, building is from the 1920s and is simply put a family house with rooms for rent. It was very clean and the lady who was running the house for the owners was lovely. However thats where all the good things stopped.

We were shown to the yellow room, and prior to arrival was told there was no 4 poster bed as advertised, that not being important we booked... The room is described as an en suite with corner bath and 'we serve you breakfast in the room' .
The room is a good size, with french doors that would open onto a small balcony with a beautiful view, thats if they werent so rotten and jammed solid.
The 4 poster had been replaced with a 1970s pink head/base unit which was torn. Mattress was good but pillows were flat as a pancake.
TV was exactly the same size as a laptop and basic channels were included.. TINY chest of drawers in wardrobe with 3 drawers looked like a bedside unit, consequently we didn't bother to unpack.

Now this is where they used a play on words...we serve you breakfast in your room...actually means we have a small table, 2 chairs, a fridge with some milk and bread in it and you make your own breakfast in the mini kitchen in the room...

The small bathroom which was a similar size to a wardrobe had a TINY corner bath, sitting in the bath I needed to have my knees fully bent to wash my feet...obviously made for one of Snow White's helpers..

Any steam from bath, shower, cooking or even human breath caused condensation to run off the windows and walls, so it was no surprise to see the paper peeling at all the joints...

We made the most of it as everything else locally was booked, otherwise we would have checked out..

It was such a shame as the house has so much potential...it just feels like your granny has fallen on hard times so to earn a bit of money she now lets people in, however no improvements have been made since she was a girl, as an example the fire extinguishers were almost 20 years out of date.... PS get some Wifi !!!! I know it wasnt around in the 1920s but it is rather useful for business people and frankly nowdays a basic need for people.
