Outstanding.....
Stayed at The Falcon on a recommendation from a Chicago friend in the beginning of the summer. I just came across pictures and it reminded me to write a review.
The host/owner and staff were incredibly helpful and conscientious which makes the real difference. They were always available to make my stay and dining experience enjoyable. I've stayed in many high end hotels and for service this inn matches any of them. Nice setup, clean, quiet, beautiful gardens and scenery. Well located and easy to get to. All stars.

Room Tip: Its hard to give a room tip, everything that I saw looked very acceptable. I stayed in a stable room which was perfect.

Wanting a change from our usual big chain hotels we looked for a typical country pub with good food and accommodation. Well, The Falcon has it all, plus an excellent host who takes the time to talk to you and friendly, efficient staff. We stayed in the Stables annexe which made it more like a hotel with a good-sized room and facilities plus it was lovely and quiet. The pub itself was busy and obviously very popular with the locals - always a good sign. The menu offered an interesting choice [pheasant and partridge, for example] as well as the standard dishes and the portions were very generous indeed. The pub is set in a lovely village just off the M1 motorway but far enough to feel "away from it all". To top it all, we found that there was an offer through Tripadvisor that we couldn't believe: for an extra £10 we had a 3-course meal each and a bottle of wine. We will certainly be returning!

The staff are so friendly . The rooms are beautiful. The service is second to none . Nothing is too much trouble. Really you have got to look this place up. You wont be dissapointed. The stables are the rooms we stayed in and they were out of this world. Why trip advisor didnt bring this up when we searched places to stay is a bit dissapointing . We found this by accident. Wont hesitate to go there again.

3 of us stayed to cut our trip south half way.We have done this previously and stayed at Premier Inns but decided we liked the sound of the Falcon and were prepared to pay more.
Room decent with excellent bathroom. Lovely location, grounds and buildings.Staff friendly and helpful. For a pub, 2 draught ales is not enough but the Everhards Tiger was excellent.House Shiraz v good. Food - enjoyable starters but the mains were a problem .
One of us was served a different meal than had been ordered. No problem will sort it in 2 minutes. 10 minutes later meal appears looking suspiciously like the first but without the pie crust this time. We asked where the advertised chickpeas and apricots were in the casserole to be told they had dissolved. We said we weren't happy and were told it would be looked into but heard nothing else.
On arrival we had been told we had to order what sort of breakfast we wanted the night before which seemed odd. However we could correct this on the morning. No cereals available - again unusual. Ordered 3 breakfasts but only 2 arrived as we had ordered. Poached eggs and bacon should not be difficult but the bacon didn't appear. Also the poached eggs were hard.
Overall much of what we had was fine but there were errors that weren't corrected. We paid just short of £200 for one night for 3 people and I don't think we will go again.
Forgot to mention the belly dancers who appeared between courses for half an hour. As I said, a strange evening!
