this has to be the most disgusting hotel around. Dirty shabby rooms stained walls filthy carpets grey bedding and bumpy beds . i lasted 2 hours before checking out again not worth the price whatever they are charging as there is a perfectly nice premier inn across the road

Room Tip: book somewhere else

Three couples on a Caledonian Travel coach tour stayed here 07 Oct 2013 for 3 nights and the dirty condition of the hotel was a daily topic for tour participants!

Room carpets were stained & filthy as were all other surfaces. The navy blue tub chairs were ringed were ringed with gray dust at the edges of the seat. Baseboards, heat radiator, etc were dirty and dusty. No evidence of a vacuum cleaner anywhere! The side-chair at our mirror was broken & collapsed causing my wife to fall backwards and cut her lip when she sat to do her hair! Mattresses were cheap & lumpy and daily room service was an absolute minimum. Windows in our room, the dining room & the large conservatory-style lobby were incredibly dirty to the point of amazement. The price was cheap and we can accept "tired", but not dirt and filth!

Daily breakfast & dinner were good, especially considering the price. Staff at reception, bar & dining room are young, pleasant and most obliging - the brightest part of our stay!

.

Room Tip: Ask to see the room before you book-in and pay or go across the street.

we visited this hotel as part of our National Coach Holiday 5th/6th October. we have been here before, We hoped it had changed. arrival was smooth and swift, room dirty dust everywhere black hairs in the bath dirty grouting in bathroom, Thought we had black net curtains, They needed only washing. the main Room curtains were hanging off the rail, The tea and coffee area was clean, as was the bedding, a room spoilt by lack of cleaning. would have hoped Britannia. had learned all people want is a clean room, and good food. the evening meal was poor, frozen veg and pale roast potatoes, not very warm. a lady not from our trip did complain, I was in reception at the time, the staff were laughing at her, and also doing it behind her back she was a full price paying customer. If I had been in charge, I would have sacked at least two of the staff. not impressed with the hotel I had hoped it had improved. since my last trip. listening to some of the other coach passengers, we had a good room. The whole chain needs a new CEO. to turn things around. and work from the bottom up instead of from the top down.

We stayed overnight at this hotel 5th October 2013, everything was ok until we went for "Dinner" the food was disgusting, if you like boiled beef and frozen veg, pale not roasted bullet potatoes it could be for you, I complained to the chef, his reply was " if you don't like it, go across the road they do 2 for 1 there" (a fair n square pub right across the road from the hotel) I so wish we had, when I asked for his name, he refused to give it....I spoke to the duty manager, she was no help whatsoever, I did find out the 2 chefs names tho.......The next morning, my husband went to have a shower, pulled back the shower curtain over the bath, only to find it hadn't been cleaned from the previous guest, there was a big dark stain near the plug also an empty shower gel container (see photo). The room was full of cobwebs and dust, the windows were black and stained. We went down for breakfast only 1 juice to drink, no milk for tea or coffee, the scrambled eggs looked like a watery dollop.....all in all a absolutely disgusting hotel, we didn't eat or have a shower we couldn't wait to leave.....Mr & Mrs C

We stayed here for 2 nights as we were attending a family wedding and the reception and evening party was held here.
We had pre booked 3 rooms many months in advance and contacted the hotel beforehand to confirm our bookings - on arrival the reception was in virtual chaos due to staff shortage and a huge mix up over our rooms.
There was another wedding party on the 1st night and reception was dealing not only with guests arriving for that, but guests like us arriving the night before ours.
It took the best part of an hour to sort our rooms out - my 84 year old mother was exhausted with all the stress.
To be fair, the poor receptionist handled all this with great calm and understanding - it would appear it was a fault with the central booking office.
My husband and I were given a "suite" which was a room big enough to hold the wedding reception in!
Double bed with a extra single bed.
Sofa and extra seating in room.
Paltry wardrobe space.
Both the bathroom and bedroom were shabby and dated.
Badly furnished.
Stained upholstery which had biro scrawled all over.
The wedding reception was well managed and the food very good.
The evening party was held in a purpose built building attached to the hotel and had its own separate access.
This was more like a night club with different levels and good dance floor - a great venue for large parties.
The buffet was dreadful - curry and rice and meatballs - all of which ran out well before all the invited guests had eaten - there were no Staff around to monitor the buffet - once put out they disappeared.
Breakfast was adequate.
If it hadn't been the fact we were attending a wedding we would never have stayed here.
