I am writing this review only because of my generosity to my fellow human beings. The Spread Eagle Hotel nestles in the village of Sawley off A59, between Clitheroe and Skipton. It sits beside the River Hodder on the fringe of The Trough of Bowland in a near perfect setting. The hotel is a real country hotel without being over fussy. The bedrooms are spacious and comfy, the beer(Thwaites )of golden hue, the food and wine are excellent in a most inviting dining room. We stayed on an offer of £99 (dinner, bed and breakfast) which represents the finest of value. Highly recommended The offer extends until the end of March.Go for it, but please don't tell anyone - hence the title of this review.

Room Tip: One overlooking The River Hodder

Whilst the bedrooms were delightful and the standard of food was generally very good, our three night stay was spoilt by poor service. It took nearly 3 hours to get our main course on the Saturday night because the kitchen could not cope with the number of meals required to be served due to overbooking.
The price of the stay was certainly not cheap and complaints to the manager were not well received.
There is no sitting room for residents to relax in so everybody has to pile into the bar area at all times of the day.

Room Tip: all the rooms seemed good

We went in wearing damp wellies and coats having played on the swings and fed the ducks across the road. I went to the bar to get some drinks and was immediately offered table service. Staff were enthusiastic and a delight throughout. The pub has a relaxed atmosphere and a range of delicious draughts on offer. I could have stayed all day. We opted for a meat platter to share. It was hearty and not unreasonably priced for the setting. Pints were £3.20 but this is the Ribble Valley and not full of lager swilling louts. I can't wait to find an excuse to return.

Room Tip: Little children will love feeding the ducks across the road. The playground and Abbey ruins are within easy walking distance.

My husband and i stayed for three nights in July as we were attending a wedding in Giggleswick. From the moment we arrived the staff could not have been more friendly and helpful, we had to change rooms on Sat night and on Sunday went back into the room we were in on friday! We had to get ready for a wedding on sat and we were given every assistance to make it easyto do so even tho we were vacating one room and moving to another.

The whole atmosphere at the Inn is one of relaxation and enjoyment. The food is as good as in any 5star hotel and the waiting staff so very helpful and friendly

Rooms are very tastefully furnished with a lot of thought gone into the comfort of them. Just a first class place to stay, We will difinitly make the detour off of the M6 when travelling to Scotland and break the journey at the Spread Eagle

Room Tip: Room three is superb , as are to two other rooms at the front.
