“Beautiful rooms, highly recommended”

Me and my boyfriend stayed at The Castle Inn last weekend on a livingsocial deal and were so pleased with the hotel and surroundings. Lovely staff member (Tom I believe) welcomed us and made sure we had everything we needed as well as pointing out places to visit around the area. The morning breakfast was delicious, and tailored to your request, all food is locally sourced and made fresh to order.
The bedroom we stayed in on the top floor was so quaint and beautiful with a vintage touch and lovely view of the church and hills beyond.
I would highly recommend staying here and would definitely say I will return! Lancashire is a lovely place to visit and we had an amazing weekend away.
Thank you!!

My wife and I stayed here last week for 2 nights, all the double rooms were taken so we accepted the twin which was nice and tastefully set out. The food, beers and wine were spot on, it really is a relaxing place to stay!

NOTE: If you are asthmatic like us I strongly advise phoning in advance and requesting any scented sticks to be removed from your room asap before your arrival, this establishment certainly does not need this fake aroma as it is spotless and fresh!

We look forward to our return.

My husband and I stayed at the Castle Inn as the first part of our 7 night staycation to Lancashire/Yorkshire/Lake District.
We were made to feel very welcome throughout our stay and nothing was too much trouble.
Room was nicely decorated. See pictures. Bed was very comfortable with plenty of pillows. Nice selection of tea and coffee in the room together with a couple of chocolate treats - nice touch. Large ensuite bathroom with bath and overhead shower.
Breakfast was very good and all food locally sourced from the butchers opposite. Filter coffee and fresh juice. Plenty of toast - so good we didn't have to eat until the evening.
We ate in the restaurant the first night of our stay - my husband had the two cheese salad and I had the mussels - both very good. We opted for their homemade pizzas and again very nice. Cannot fault the food or the service.
We had coffee after dinner in the pub area of the Inn with comfortable leather sofas.
There is ample parking behind the Inn. Plus you don't have to go through the pub to get to your room as there is a side door which you will be given the key to.
We stayed on a 2 night deal and had the added bonus of checkout at 12noon.
The only reason I haven't given this Inn 5 stars is that the Inn is on the main road and windows have single glazing hence you can hear the passing traffic whilst in bed plus the church is opposite and the bells dong on every hour 24/7 - so woken regularly during the night but that is because I am a light sleeper. However my husband is a very heavy sleeper and wasn't disturbed.
We would definitely stay at The Castle Inn again when next visiting the area but opt for a room at the back away from the road.

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 4 at the front of the Inn

We've just returned from a two night stay at The Castle Inn. I cannot speak too highly of it. We were made to feel very welcome, we had a beautifully decorated room at the front of the hotel. Its an old stone built building that has been completely tastefully modernised throughout. It has a lounge bar at the front with reasonably priced drinks, unlike most hotels. We recommend the 'Black Sheep' beer. Comfortable easy chairs and sofas. We ate there both nights and would highly recommend their home baked pizzas. The charm of the wonky floorboards is cushioned with deep carpeting, both duvet and pillows were feather ones. There is one other pub in Hornby which was also nice, a tea room and a couple of shops. We walked a couple of miles across country to Wray which was a beautiful little village, just like a film set. We also drove to Kirby Lonsdale which has many pubs and independent shops. Great couple of days, thanks.

Room Tip: There is church clock opposite that chimes on the hour. If that would bother you ask for a room at t...

This small hotel offers everything needed to give a relaxing, comfortable break. The welcome is warm and friendly - and the staff want you to enjoy your stay so nothing is too much trouble. Our room was fabulous,as well as being light and airy, the bed extremely comfortable. We had bedside lights which were designed to read in bed -so many hotels seem to think a bedside light which is lower then the bed is sufficient!
The hospitality tray supplied a variety of teas and coffees, but also yummy treats as well as posh biscuits. The food is superb and the whole stay a huge delight. We cant wait to go back!!

We stayed here for just one night, on our way to a family gathering and could hardly believe our eyes - not only was the weather in deepest Lancashire absolutely beautiful, but so was this lovely little hotel. Prices are certainly not excessive and the level of comfort and personal attention definitely justified the decision to stay here, rather than the Lancaster Travelodge,

Others have commented on the ear plugs provided to counter the church bells. They are a particular benefit on a Sunday morning, when the bell tolls for a full 5 minutes before 8 am, having struck on the hour as well all through the night. Alternatively, ask for Room 6 (a twin) which seems to be in its own little world, away from outside noise. Our room was well equipped, with a feature bath, but those over 6 ft or with wider than average hips might want to make sure their room has a separate shower too. Getting out wouldn't be easy for everyone....

Breakfast, served from 8.30, was plentiful, freshly cooked and an easy start to the day. We unfortunately couldn't stay for dinner or to sample the cocktail menu but we would love to try those another time.

The owners and staff are extremely good at their jobs - welcoming and friendly without going over the top - and we can only hope that enough people will make the trip to this lovely village to enable them to make this venture a success.
