Our second fantastic stay in this wonderful hotel. On this occasion there was a wedding reception taking place and our lodge was very noisy and open to public scrutiny- no net curtains and the need to open the windows because of the warm weather. It was with some regret, given the view from our room was fantastic, that we asked to be moved. The lady on reception was brilliant and showed me to a room at the back that was much quiter, brilliant service! The pool, sauna and steam room were also very good. The following mornings breakfast was very enjoyable with an excellent selection - having stopped in a good selection of hotels at four times the price I can honestly say the selection was the best I have seen, smoked haddock and poached eggs for breakfast, fantastic. I would definetly recommend the hotel and happily visit again, just not when a wedding party is booked in. My advice is phone first and ask.

Stirk house is an old house that was renovated in 60's style and that is the part they are trying to redo. The old part and front are lovely with lots of character. We stayed in the back part which was clean with plenty of room but a long way from the reception, something that was good in the end because there were weddings on and we were well away from the noise which didnt disturb us at all (the hotel did call us and warned us before the stay).

Service was great with local people giving their best and proud of it. The breakfast was really good, bacon that you could taste very good black pudding, all produce sourced locally. The fruit and cereals were good, with the usual request for fruit knives.

Nice grounds to wander in with well maintained paths

Well worth the stay

Room Tip: If there are wedding one then go for the rooms at the rear

Last Sunday we spent the night at Stirk House Hotel and really enjoyed it, so much so that next time we visit, we'll certainly stay for longer. The suite was very attractive, clean and beautifully furnished, with a huge, comfortable bed. The bathroom was spacious and well equipped the only thing that was missing was bathrobes. Dinner was a treat, from the home made bread right through to the hand made, complimentary truffles served with the coffee. Taken as a whole, it was a dining experience that couldn't be faulted. The same with breakfast the following morning; fresh local produce, very generous portions and an extensive buffet selection too. In terms of the reception welcome and the service, this was second to none, with the dining room staff especially excelling in attitude and presentation. We're looking forward to a return visit in the near future and perhaps we could manage a midweek short break, to really unwind and enjoy the lovely location to compliment the virtues of the hotel.

Room Tip: Opt for a suite with a view, we'll request this next time.

This hotel also has a great fitness club with a boxing spa. Children are also welcome to attend for lessons and the swimming pool is also good for all ages. The staff are always helpful and the service is always good. The Bar and lounge offer light snacks, coffees and meals including afternoon teas. Most enjoyable during the winter months.

Room Tip: Suites are available for families.

Booked a 4 day midweek break half board, so good we booked another day!! room was adjacent to hotel, large comfy bed, tv, coffee/tea/ biscuits, small bathroom, but clean. Towels & bedding spotless. great view over the gardens, wildlife walks around the hotel well worth walking. Too the food!! WOW breakfast was fantastic varied menu, but the cooked breakfast was absolutely delicious, plus chris the chef popped round the tables offering seconds!! evening meals couldn't be beaten, eaten in many hotels but the food here was faultless, the only downside was we didn't stop long enough to try everything, couldn't choose a favourite meal they were so lovely. Staff where amazing couldn't have been better, nothing was too much trouble, the whole staff were a credit to the hotel stayed during the recent heatwave, so made full use of the swimming pool, lovely to pop in after a hot day, for steam and a swim. too hot to use the gym!! would definitely stay again only downside was having to leave for home.

We have just had our wedding at Stirk House and every aspect of the day was perfect. From the day we viewed Stirk House as a potential venue over 2 years ago, to booking and finally getting married last week everything was first class.

Rooms - I stayed in the Clitheroe Suite the night before and the Gisburn Suite the wedding night. Both suites offered absolute luxury at very competitive rates. The jacuzzi baths were particularly special!

Food - Simply outstanding! All our guests were really happy with the food for the wedding and my wife and I could not fault it. The creme brûlée and shortbread dessert was a taste of heaven!
Breakfast is amazing, probably the best sausages and bacon I've ever had!

Wedding - We opted to get married in the Gallery and have our reception in restaurant and we had 49 guests for the day. The rooms were beautifully presented and were an ideal size for the number of guests we had. We were lucky enough to have glorious weather and so were able to enjoy the spectacular Ribble Valley scenery and beautiful grounds.

Staff and Customer Service - I cannot fault any aspect of the service we received from the staff at Stirk House. The day exceeded all my expectations for being the greatest day of our lives and that was in no small part down to Denise and her staff. A huge thank you to you all!

If you are thinking of getting married at Stirk House, DO IT!!

My husband and I have just had a lovely weekend at the Stirk House, Gisburn. What a fabulous location.
We attended a Summer Ball on the Saturday evening and the staff who served our food were absolutely spot on, no lengthy waits, and nothing was too much trouble.
The only reason I have no rated this hotel 5 star is the leisure complex is looking very tired and the pool needs some money spending on - apart from that we would go back without any hesitation.

Room Tip: Make sure you ask in advance if you want a twin room as there are only three in the whole hotel, plu...
