We came here to try the promotion offer for the tasting menu and were not disappointed.
It was mid week and perhaps the staff had the time but they went out of their way to explain the menu and origins of the food fully. It was all very authentic and the attention of the proprietors ,who took the time to chat to us on the way out made the night.
The five course menu was extensive and we were allowed a full choice.
The food itself was cooked superbly and plentiful in portions(unusual for a taster menu).
It was also refreshing to come out and not be ripped off for drinks.
I would certainly recommend this for a visit.
Well done and thank you all at La Locanda

We read a recommendation for this restaurant in the previous weekend's sunday papers and booked a table for the following Friday.
We received a warm welcome and explanation of the menu and specials. We ordered a bottle of Vernaccia which was fabulous and sat back to study the menu at leisure.
We both ordered Fegatini as a starter, As a main I went for Gnochetti with a spicy sausage and red pepper sauce, my husband chose the crab in hand made ravioli.
After being shown to our table we were presented with a selection of home made bread and some Sicilian extra virgin olive oil. The home made grissini was heavenly and ideal for dipping into the oil which tasted just wonderful.
The food was superb and the service friendly and informative. Normally we cannot manage three courses but I asked if they had any Vin Santo and Cantucci biscuits. They did and the biscuits were heavenly, just made for dipping! My husband reckoned the Tiramisu was pretty special too.
We came away feeling that we had had the best Italian food we had ever tasted outside Italy and will definitely be going back. I would recommend this to anyone.

We booked La Locanda to celebrate our anniversary. We'd been a few years ago and remembered Cinzia's warm welcome and fulsome explanation of the menu and the produce.
The experience this time could not have been more different. Cinzia was cold to the point of rudeness and seemed totally indifferent to her guests. The menu choices were poor and the food distinctly average - greasy overcooked vegetables and over salted pasta. Had it not been for the warmth of the Italian waitress we might have been tempted to leave. Won't bother going back again, shame!

thank you for your review,
it was one time the explanation of the special by Cinzia, that was 2010, 4 year a go .
If Cinzia do not explain the special this does not mean she is rude but is just matter of reading the explanation on the menu, boards, or ask if this is not clear or if you have some other preference, Cinzia is at the restaurant everyday, but sometimes she need to look after other matters related to the business.
The menu is extensive and with plenty of choices, if you prefer something else is just a matter of asking. Salty pasta! I always personal taste all and the pasta I can guarantee is not salty at all, but if your salt taste is more than normal please just ask. Greasy veg! I am well known to keep my veg al dente and the greasy stuff is called extra virgin olive oil. Off course we have lovely staff, but next time if you come before 2018 please ask if there are any issue, if this matter do not will bring you back I wish you all the best
regards Maurizio

This place is getting addictive. Unexpected family good news deserved a special impromptu night out. The ambience, welcome and service were exemplary. Following an aperitif of excellent Prosecco, we had superb frito misto - light crisp squid, king prawns, whitebait asparagus and courgette - absolutely delicious. Evening special was lobster spaghetti - a whole lobster, expertly shelled and tossed in a deliciously tasty sauce. A bottle of unusual Falanghina from an artisan producer just sealed the whole experience. After dinner we had a relaxed cappucino and a fascinating and relaxed conversation with mine hosts with tales of Italy, produce, cookery, wine and travel. What a wonderful night out. We'll be back very soon.

Not a lot to say really that has not been said by others, apart from just make the effort to go, first class food, atmosphere, wine, & beer.
A real Gem of a place, that I for one can't wait to go back to, it's a joy to see and feel real passion for food, and the staff have bundles of it in this place!
