“when it was too wet to camp....”
Reviewed January 30, 2013

We ended up here after a very wet week last July which meant it was to wet to camp. Myself, hubby and our 2 girls together with my sister in law, hubby and their 2 girls got together and braved it for a weekend together in an 8 birth caravan as an alternative to camping, not wanting to let the kids down.

What a bargain. 8 of us in a caravan was cheap as chips, so we unpacked, cracked open the wine and made sure we had a good time.

The kids loved it...playing out, getting wet in the outdoor splash park, playing in the playground, pool and amusements......

We didn't stay long at the evening entertainment place, it didn't smell nice in there. The other bar area was ok though and looked out in to the pool.

The girls are asking when we can do it again. As an adult I would say that we made sure we had a good time in average surroundings but I bet the girls would have given it 5 stars :-)

Room Tip: The nicer caravans are furthest away from the club house

Well its a Haven caravan park in Blackpool, so a 5* park you can forget about. The static was nearly spotless. The site has the usual mix of council punters and ok family's on a modest budget. Night time is loud and a real feeling of the adults are smashed and the kids are looking after themselves. The day time is OK with a pool and very easy drive to the attraction s at Blackpool.

Room Tip: Pick higher than a standered +

It makes one wonder what type of people travel to these places and what they expect from their money. I have travelled all over the planet earth and seen a lot worse for more money. Some of you have stated that you stayed in private caravans, this is nothing to do with the site itself. The site is one of the smallest in the country, more relaxing than the big sites. Some of you state that it is a five star site, misleading it is a four star site. I can honestly say I have never heard any member of staff be insulting towards a member of the public, believe me I know I visit this site on a regular basis. Some of the reviewers stated that they would continue going abroad instead, one cannot compare a site in the uk to any other destination in Europe.
Take this into consideration, flight only anywhere Europe £99.00 return each plus transfers, plus accommodation then spending money, the costs quadruple. Ants in the kitchen, come on get to Asia or Africa the tarantulas and snakes eat the ants, your having a laugh. How can any person, cleaner stop ants getting into a caravan in summer, impossible. Yes the site got flooded when we had the storms, but so did 75percent of the country. Cigarette ends in puddles, get a life walk down any street and one will see the same. People visiting the site. People come from all walks of life on this site, there's many owners probably the most in the uk haven sites. Some are solicitors, managers, doctors, unemployed and then just those whom have saved to come for a holiday. The site is immaculately clean, safe and once in the complex park the children cannot get out as there is no gate for them to access. The entertainment is excellent every night, yes mainly child focused but that's what it's all about. Here's a few things the reviewers didn't mention. Free circus act training for the kids daily, free dancing lessons daily, free acts afternoon and night, free disco outside on Saturdays, swimming lessons daily and yes they close the pool off to these children for safety sake. If you have a complaint don't hold back, just go to reception and explain it to them they will be accommodating. When booking a private caravan, some owners state platinum standard, it's up to you to check this out and not the parks problem. The restaurant is clean and not over priced, the bars are the same but yes the drinks are quite expensive. The play areas are immaculate and safe for any aged child. The pool yes is small but very warm and again safe for the kids, three life guards very strict as well which is a good thing. Jacuzzis and steam room are again free. Hot showers and lockers again good. Transport is outside the gate, buses taxis trams. Fish docks round the corner for the cheapest and best quality fish, crabs, prawns and lobster mmmmm. There is a Europort shopping complex next door for designer bargains, thousands of them. Two small market towns within five minutes left or right out of the complex. Finally if your thinking about booking this site ignore the bad reviews and book with confidence, the kids will love it.

This is the 5 Haven park we have stayed at this year so I can review in comparison to the others.
Its quiet a small site compared to the others we have stayed on. We arrived about 1 hour early and enquired about checking in early - "no" we were told - oh well. Using our previous experience we visited the swimming pool and booked the kids onto the Friday night inflatable fun session as they missed out on this last time. Caravan was a standard one - I can't complain over the condition of the unit. It was clean and tidy and in a serviceable despite it been the last weekend of the season.
This visit was only really to use the site as a base for visiting Blackpool so we didn't spend much time on the park at all. The evening entertainment was the typical fare - not our cup of tea but the kids enjoyed it. The swimming pool was ok, quiet small and I could see it been a problem when the park is at full capacity, but the kids thought the water slide was good.
Great for the purpose we needed it for. When you leave the site, turn right, up to the roundabout & then take your second exit. After 500 yards you'll find a small free carpark right next to a tram stop. £9.00 for a family day unlimited travel ticket & in 25mins you're outside the tower. This was brillant for watching the illuninations.
Overall, the park was fine but there's not much to do around there & we would only using it again as a base for visiting Blackpool

Room Tip: You can't park outside all the caravan's and the site does have abit of a problem with rain...

We have just returned from Cala Gran Holiday Park, it was the last weekend before the end of the season so didn't expect much. The check-in staff were very good check in took approx 10 minuets, the caravan was easy find and the caravan itself was clean, with all you needed for a self catering break. expected it to be very cold but the gas fire in the main room was adequate, we also used a oil fired radiator placed between the two bedroom doors, so we didn't freeze. We used the pub for our meal on the first night and then went with the rest of the family to the show bar for the children's entertainment our grandchildren aged 5 and 2 enjoyed that, the adult band came on they were very good they did 2 spots one at 9pm then again at 11pm. the grandchildren also liked the swimming pool.the rest of the time we spent in Blackpool for meals and the illuminations. The next time we use the sun newspaper offer we will stick to the East Coast, Primrose Valley and the Blue Dolphin, they seem to have alot more to offer.
