No longer a food venue and looks to be on its last legs to be honest. Let's hot someone takes it over and does something with it. Would be a shame to loose the last pub in the village.

Decided to call in after a drive out and having been a few years ago and enjoyed it thought we couldn't go wrong. Although the food was plentiful the tables hadn't been cleaned so we keeps sticking to them and the mats brought for our plates were dirty. The portion size was huge so if you're not very fussy and rather hungry could be worth a try. The other half had gammon, chips and egg. Again a huge portion. At 17 for the meals not the cheapest place. Don't think we'll be calling back any time soon.

Ranken Arms is in the centre of Hoddlesden Village, parking is available outside on the cobbled area.
The food is good with generous sized portions, the fish and chips are good and the roast dinner is also good, its an all round friendly village pub, reasonable prices. all in all if you want a filling meal and nothing fancy but tasty then this is a great place.
Decor is a bit dated, the toilets could do with paper towels to dry your hands, I take my own hand sanitizer instead, I am not keen on using a towel that has been used by lots of people.

It was Bank Holiday and we couldn't be bothered cooking so decided to try The Ranken Arms as its only a couple of mins from our house. We both decided on the homemade cheese and onion pie, chips and beans. We waited about 15 mins and then our means arrived. We really enjoyed the tasty cheese pie very much and both finished our meals very satisfied. They had some great offers on, 2 courses for 8.95 which we'd be tempted to try next time. We will definitely go again and would recommend it to others. Some places like disappear under the radar of others, if you are looking for home cooked food instead of chain rubbish I would try here, their roasts looked lovely and too!!

We have visited the Ranken many times. It is a 'local' pub, with friendly staff, good service and consistently lovely food. The roast beef dinner is one of the best in the area, and the helpings are more than adequate. The midweek special offers 2 courses for £8.95, unbeatable! My only criticism would be that the decor is dated, and could do with a bit of a refurb.
