Owner description: Wellybobs is a family run farm with lots of indoor and outdoor facilities. The emphasis at wellybobs is close contact with our wonderful animals. All our animals are extremely tame and are displayed in clean light conditions so you can meet them and stroke them. We have a petting area where you can meet our little furry critters, this is always staffed to ensure our animals are never mishandeled.Outdoors we have lots more animals and lovely countryside to explore,we have an outdoor play area, which includes our ever popular Zip Wire. We also have a 9 hole mini golf course (extra charge applies). Our indoor play barn features a timber play frame, giant bouncy slide, bouncy castle and toddler soft play zone, we also have a reptile area and go cart track. Moo's cafe serves home made hot and cold food and drinks at very reasonable prices and our ice cream parlour serves delicious ice cream made on a local farm. We also have a party area and gift area.

“Hmmmm, it was alright.”

We did plan on buying a £9 family deal from livingsocial but on calling Wellybobs for availability before buying, I was informed that if I type in Wellybobs in the promotion box on their own website you can get it for the same price.
We arrived and felt a bit dissapointed straight away, it's very small.
The staff are friendly enough but one girl did seem to be doing everything while others stood around chatting!
"Bouncy Land" is one small bouncy castle and slide and looks like it needs a good hose down, to say its manky is an understatement.
The seating area in the indoor play area was dirty and the tables had chunks of wood missing from them. We decided against ordering food.
The kids (boys age 7 and 3) enjoyed it, they had the additional pony ride and quad bike ride at an extra cost of £1 each and the cuddle corner went down well too. They got to hold rabbits and chicks.
The website states that there are nature trails and a walk by a river, we asked the girl in the cafe how to get to the path, we got as far as a locked gate at the end of the adventure park by a stream and couldn't get any further!
The visit lasted roughly 3 hours and that was only because we were waiting around for nearly an hour for the quad bike ride (not queuing, just waiting for the next time slot, we queued for about 10 minutes)
I don't think it is somewhere we would visit again, it was ok for the half price deal but I wouldn't recommend it at full price.

“Awful, dirty, poor animals! Needs total overhaul!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 11, 2013

Gosh, where to start? i visited Wellybobs a year and a half ago (maybe longer) and it was quite nice. Yesterday i went back and took my husband and 8 year old son.
When i arrived, there was one young girl (who looked totally overworked!) who was taking payment for visitors, stamping hands, booking pony rides, selling ice cream and taking food orders for the cafe. we had to wait nearly 30min to even get in - really need more staff and more that one till!
THE PONY RIDE - what a joke. paid an extra £1 for the pleasure of queuing for 30 min for what was literally 3 minutes on a pony.
THE CAFE - filthy. totally disgusting. we ordered a coffee while my son played in the 'play area'. The cups were dirty, there was one communal teaspoon used by everyone to stir in your sugar from the one communal sugar bowl. There was food all over the floors and tables, i had to ask for a cloth to clean the food off my table. You could see into the kitchen from the till area and this too looked a mess. No way was i ordering anything to eat here.
THE PLAY AREA - the soft play area for babies was really dirty/grubby plus very small. im not surprised no parents were putting their little ones in it! The wall next to it had something splashed up it (perhaps a hot chocolate) and it had clearly been like this for a loooong time. The area for older kids - my son was bored after 5 min. There is one wooden structure to climb, it has a rope at one end to climb up, then a tunnel to crawl through and a pole to slide down at the other end. He was so bored that he started collecting various bits of rubbish from the tunnel and bringing to me - he was promptly told to stop!
There was a pool table, also filthy and an air hockey table which looked pretty new and you had to pay per game.
THE SAND PIT -oh wellybobs, you made a huge mistake here. The sand pit used to be huge, in view of parents having a sit down and the kids loved it. Now its small, in another room where parents having a brew can't see the kids, has ceiling tiles missing, again is dirty and there is a gaping hole in the wall with expanding foam spilling out. Not exactly safe.

CRAZY GOLF - Ha! what a joke! someone has put together several rectangular wooden frames, put some fake grass on them, made a hole at one end and spread them around what was an empty space. This is not crazy golf! Oh and you have to pay extra for that too!

THE ANIMALS - i came away from this place feeling really upset. As an animal lover i wanted to shake these people. There was a cow, so very thin you could see all of it's bones, a snake sporting injury of some kind and generally looking unwell with loose skin, and guinea pigs......i have many of my own and it looks like some of the guinea pigs here are suffering with mites /skin problems. one had scabs all over its back end, another had hair loss, a few were so fat they couldn't move properly. It was shocking. The have a 'cuddle corner' where you can hold a guinea or rabbit or ferret. The girl running this had no personal skills and didn't seem to know what to do with kids. You're in the wrong job love. I wanted to take the guinea that was covered in scabs, put in in my bag and take it home to show it some love and attention. I have 9 piggies of my own - none in this state.

The whole animal area stunk. That poor skinny cow.....the RSPCA was my first priority after visiting this appalling facility.

hello madam, first of all i have no intention of getting in an online argument everyone is in-titled to there own opinion but i feel your review is suspiciously negative , i feel i must point out several things.

number one - staff levels- we have to staff the areas in a way that allow the business to be viable , the weather has not been good over the Easter break and so we staffed accordingly , we have very little queuing but on occasion we do have busy periods like any business !!

number 2 - pong ride - you said in your review you have been wellybobs before however now the pony ride is much longer , yet you complain that this is insufficient. can you imagine the queue’s if we made it any longer!

number 3 - café - the café carrys a 4 star food hygiene rating , i am sorry if you received a dirty cup this certainly does not usually happen! But we do provide wooden stirrers which are single use for our customers to use! Are kitchen is spotless although it can get very busy at certain periods like any commercial kitchen.

number 4 - play-barn - some areas do get a little grubby after a days abuse, it is a play barn not a play centre.
we have hundreds of people in muddy wellybobs using the facility’s everyday but at the end of each day all areas are thoroughly cleaned and the area has been expanded since your last visit the sand pit was moved at the request of several visitors who didn’t like sand in eating area!

number 5 - mini golf - this was only installed a week ago by the fun golf company they have yet to finish the course but was delayed due to the snow however hundreds of visitors have enjoyed the course and can you imagine the queue’s if we didn’t charge for this!

number 6 - animals - now for the most annoying part of your review my animals!!
daisy the cow is a dairy breed and these are naturally fair boney , however daisy is currently underweight as she has been rearing a very demanding calf "that’s a baby cow" the calf was weaned a few weeks ago which will allow daisy ( which i have hand reared since the day she was born) to return to her trim self!
one of our guinea pigs (melton) has some scabs on his back from were he has been scrapping with Elvis his best friend we have tried to separate them but they just sulk!
and i love your comment about the animal unit smelling, anyone would think it was full of animals!!
and the snake is a new addition to the farm and is currently being treated by a vet for an underlining condition.

perhaps if you had spoken to a member of staff about any of your issues we would of happily given you an explanation!! i did send you a message and ask you to contact me but since i have had no respond this seems the only way to defend my business!!

“Fantastic day out”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 10, 2013

Brilliant place to visit, went to farm with 5 year old nephew as a treat in the holidays! Plenty to do and see-.being hands on with the animals was great- not seen such a huge smile on little mans face as when bottle feeding the lambs!!
Spent all day there watching and stroking the animals, going on pony ride, having a picnic and playing in the playground - fab day had by all!!
Highly recommend it- friendly staff and great value for money- am taking other nieces and nephews there as soon as get the chance!!
Only issue was lack of signs to follow to get there- if that improved to stop me from getting lost again then this would be have been a perfect day!!

“Fantastic day!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 6, 2013

I've just had my son's 6th Birthday party at Wellybobs and what a lot of very happy and exhausted little kids we've got on our hands...fantastic day, staff great, animals and attractions exactly right for children. Take no notice of the 'ooh, it's cold and a bit grubby' naysayers - it's a FARM PARK for goodness sake, it doesn't pretend to be anything else! Take a couple of jumpers and some wellies and you're sorted!

“Fun Day”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 3, 2013

We went to wellybobs due to buying a groupon voucher, my little boy is 4 yrs old and we both had a fantastic day, the staff was very friendly, the activities was really good, the animals were very well looked after.
We fed lambs, held chicks, my little boy had a pony ride and a quad bike ride. There was a soft play area and a cafe inside to warm up which my little boy enjoyed, and I think the cafe was ok value for money. We will be definatly returning.
