My family have visited and stayed at the Inn at Whitewell many times including weddings and Chistenings.during the mid term break we called for lunch and it was not busy and the afternoon wedding was apparently quite small. We ordered three lunches of fish and chips which we have enjoyed many times and a chicken thighs with peanut sauce. We waited for over 50 minutes whilst neighbouring tables were served with starters and then main courses. Finally my son in law went to the bar to be told with no apology that "the chicken thighs take quite awhile".
A few minutes later the food arrived. The chicken dish was tasteless apparently and the fish and chips were certainly not up to the usual standard. The fish batter was very thin and burnt and a meagre portion of chips. All in all very disappointing.

The Inn at Whitewell is a beautiful building in a perfect and peaceful setting, idyllic in every way. We visited for a midweek pub lunch with friends, the bar was bustling with diners, the fires were lit and the atmosphere was welcoming although they could have done with making sure there was a member of staff behind the bar at all times as we had to wait to order a drink and again to pay the bill before we left.
Three of us chose fish and chips followed by crumble tart, huge portions of crisp, perfectly cooked fish with good chips and peas (choice of garden or mushy), the crumble was also just right. My husband ordered lamb with hotpot potatoes which he enjoyed but coveted our fish and chips! His treacle tart was his idea of heaven.
We love the Inn at Whitewell, it is treat in every way and we can recommend it highly.

Been to this place 3 or 4 times now for a wedding reception, evening meal and lunch. The reputation has always outshone the experience. To be quite honest i just dont see the great appeal of the place. The setting is really outstanding and is worth a visit on that alone, but for me their are far better places to have a lovely meal in this area. I have to say the starter of the fishcakes was good but as with the main course would have been better served hotter. That could have had something to do with the serving plates being barely warm, This shouldnt happen in any restaurant, let alone this one. The service here is again not quite up to the mark and i dont think you could say 'a warm welcome awaits you' !!
Perhaps the reputation of the place and the setting means that service and the attention to detail dont have to be quite the same as other establishments in the Ribble Valley.

This was our third stay. We love this place. The rooms are beautiful, the staff fantastic and the food is simply amazing. Great selection of beer and wine and the views are beautiful. We cannot wait to return and will be doing so very soon.

I took my father here, not sure what to expect. What we got was a delight. Great food & wine, reasonable prices. One word of advice - get there early as the place fills up quick! Oh, and if you can make it on a sunny day (ha!) the grounds are great.

Very kind of you to review us, thank you. This week has been heaven, frosty, bright with fires blazing, not such a bad place to live. Regards Cb.
