“Fabulous mini break, gorgeous food, excellent staff!”
Reviewed July 20, 2011

My fiancee and I and our dog booked 2 nights at this wonderful pub, after a much needed break. We arrived to friendly smiles from the staff, a very clean pretty room, and a delicious lunch. The staff throughout our stay were brilliant, nothing was too much trouble and they were very chatty. The food was excellent, presented well, plenty of it and very tasty. The room was very clean with plenty of space, a delight to stay in.
We will definately be booking to return here again!

We had booked two nights accommodation and dinner, but on arrival I had to cry off the first night's food booking through illness. Andrew immediately, and with no prompting from either of us, offered a discount or recalculation of the total fee payable dependent on whichever came out less. I should stress that the illness preceeded us getting to Waddington. Such customer service is truly exceptional. Andrew commented "but we want you to come back!" as if it were the most natural thing in the world. The high standard of the room and my partner's dinner strongly suggests that we will return - reader, you should visit there too.

A surprise birthday treat from my wife - a couple of nights at the Waddington Arms which we have stayed in a number of times before and which we always enjoy. Primarily a village inn, specialising in excellent quality bar food, the bedrooms are on the small size - not surprisingly as the building has been the inn at the heart of the village for over 150 years - but they are comfortable, breakfast is excellent and the general atmosphere of the Waddington Arms is fantastic. It is nice to be able to sit outside, overlooking the beautiful church of St Helen, with a pint of the inn's own brew 'Waddy', or in the large beer garden. The village of Waddington is a delight, with a superb linear garden running parallel with the main street, maintained by the villagers themselves, with the stream running through it. It's the sort of place where you leave the car and enjoy long and short walks through the wonderful Ribble valley, returning for a splendid meal of local produce in the evening - even though Waddington used to be in the West Riding of Yorkshire, the Lancashire Hotpot is a particular favourite. I look forward to my next break at the delightful Waddington Arms.

We got a fantastic deal with late rooms but the pub does its own good deal for dinner b & b. Our room was in the eaves, We had 2 tiny window, 1 with a window seat looking out over the main street.. It looks as though they are gradually refurbing the rooms - lovely bed, new curtains and cushions, flat screen tv , everything you need. Shower room really clean if a bit dated.
The pub itself is lovely and really popular with locals. All the staff were really friendly and ready to help. We had 1 evening meal which was very good quality.
Waddington is a lovely village and has 2 other pubs. We went to The Lower Buck which was great, lots of real ales. I wouldn't bother with The Higher Buck..
A great base for exploring the Forest of Bowland which is beautiful, an undiscovered part of England.

Stayed 2 nights, had the most fabulous time & left reluctantly!
Room was cute, with top-end bathroom, food was amazing - perfectly cooked steak & breakfast eggs for example, great choice of ale, warm ambience in bar/dining area, and a tireless fun host.
We'd be back regularly if we didn't live in Australia!
