Description: A 15th-century manor house in rural Lancashire, Mitton Hall creates fine food using local produce. Showcasing stunning interior design, the restaurant serves rich British and European dishes, a hearty Sunday lunch, and classic afternoon teas. From the flavour-packed Mitton Hall menu, expect the likes of pan-fried fillet of seabass with crushed new potatoes, spring greens and garlic veloute, or the Mediterranean vegetable risotto with parmesan shavings and truffle oil. Finish with one of the tempting desserts, including white chocolate, orange and ginger cheesecake with brandy snap curl, or apple pear and berry crumble. Afternoon tea at the Mitton Hall restaurant is both relaxed and indulgent, with fresh sandwiches and a selection of cakes and scones served by the roaring fire in the main hall, in the bar, or in the elegant brasserie. When the weather allows, afternoon tea can be enjoyed from the sunny terrace. Mitton Hall near Clitheroe is surrounded by idyllic scenery. Blackburn and Burnley are both a 20-minute drive away.

“Hit & miss”
Reviewed January 16, 2013

Been here a couple of times. when it's good it is good, but it is sometimes not good at all. They do a lot of weddings, if you happen to book when they have something on then you could be in the main dining room on your own - with no atmosphere, or be turned away. I think they need to decide if they are an events venue or a Restaurant as at the moment they are not doing a very good job of being both.

“Far too cold”
Reviewed January 8, 2013 via mobile

Arrived at Mitton Hall for a quick dinner on a Thursday Evening, very quiet but that didn't phase us! All we wanted was a nice meal, which it definitely was. The only downfall was arriving in an extremely cold building! The fire was lit but this didn't help, we ended up moving and sitting directly next to the fire on a low table as this was the only way we could enjoy the meal whilst being warm. Radiators were off! My suggestion is wrap up warm mid week. Staff are great and food Is excellent but please sort the heating.

“Birthday excellence”
Reviewed January 4, 2013 via mobile

Booked one of the private dining rooms for landmark birthday & wasn't disappointed. The service couldn't be better, they set up the room for us, we had Kate as our exclusive organiser & the meal was just perfect & all 18 guests were suitably impressed.
We have had meals here beforehand & often call in for coffee, so wasn't surprised how good the service & food were.
Thanks everyone for making a special birthday even more special we'll be back.......

“Worth a visit.”
Reviewed October 19, 2012 via mobile

Have dined at Mitton hall as a couple (for special occasion) and as a large group...both were good experiences over all. We have also dined in both the bar and the restaurant, both of which are nice and depends on what sort of evening/food you fancy. If you fancy more chilled atmosphere and casual dining, then I would Definately opt for the bar because a bar menu is offered which has tapas and casual meals available. The restaurant menu is much more fine dining and ladies would probably prefer to dress up a little more. Never had a poor meal, always very tasty and well prepared food. Wine list is reasonably well executed but could be more varied. You will pay for a nice bottle of wine here, but not ridiculous prices. One little niggle is that everytime I go, the same cd is playing in the background (which seems to be the Leona Lewis albulm or Robbie Williams swing albulm...gets a tad annoying after a while). Staff are generally pleasant...some more attentive than others! Only thing which really lets itself down is when staff deliberately don't bring change back, clearly "assuming" that it's a tip and that you don't require your change...this is very rude and then makes you feel like not tipping! People will tip accordingly and it should not be assumed. This is not the fault of the establishment but the individual staff who choose to be cheeky! All in all a beautifully presented place which is particularly stunning at Christmas (a very winter wonderland kind of building and just gorgeous when the fire is roaring and the Christmas tree glistening!). Will certainly be back again in the future.

“Birthday Party”
Reviewed October 18, 2012

Went to Mitton Hall for my girlfriends birthday, The whole evening was amazing, food and service couldnt have been any better. I have eaten at some of the worlds top restaurants and this is truely up there. The building itself was increadable and I would like to give a special thanks to David who looked after us brilliantly because although they were very busy he still made us and my party feel very special.

Recommend this venue to everyone.
