“Good italian with attentive staff”
Reviewed August 29, 2013

Booked an early table for 4 on a Thursday night. Restaurant was quite quiet but sufficient atmosphere. Food was excellent - king prawn starter only 3 king prawns but tasty. Main course of chicken with mushroom had a very good sauce. Another in the party had the fish skewer which was also very good. Probably did not need more than one side dish amongst four. Not the cheapest at £150 for 4 with few drinks (no wine) but would happily pay it again to know that it would be a good meal - far too many Italians seem to disappoint.

“Evening Meal”
Reviewed August 23, 2013

A warm welcome, but very expensive. The food was good overall, but not necessarily worth the high premium. Some of the wines were particularly expensive. Other local restaurants provide equally good service and food more reasonably. The majority of customers left by 10 o'clock, which made the atmosphere quite dull.

“Good but expensive”
Reviewed August 20, 2013

Visited for lunch because our first choices were closed on Tuesdays. Huge restaurant, two floors both beautifully furnished. Good service but not many customers. Food was delightful but the bill was well above our normal budget. Wish we could afford to lunch there again

“Outstanding”
Reviewed August 20, 2013

I eat at this Piccolino's regularly, and it is without doubt consistantly fantastic. I love Italian so yes, I am biased to this type of restaurant but there are plenty of Italian alternatives in the area but none (for me) come close. The food is excellent, i nearly always start with the calamari which is the best in the area (on parr with the Emporium's which is actually right across the road). I know piccolino's is a chain but you do not feel like you're in a mass replicated eatery. The staff are professional, attentive and really well informed, they go that extra mile and as many of them are actually Italian it is a true profession for them which they excell in.

The specials are always a hit especially the fish of the day. The seafood linguine is some of the best I've had along with the risotto and the pizzas. Granted this is not a cheap restaurant but I'd say it is good value for what you get, fresh ingredients cooked with great skill to create delicious dishes.

I would say the wine list is a little on the expensive side and there aren't many cheapish options.

You can eat outside which is lovely in summer and the whole place is clean and modern. You can also see straight into the kitchen which is always a good sign.

Overall a fantastic place which is in my opinion one of the best places to eat in the area.
