This is a traditional English pub with beautiful views, coal fires and no juke box. I have eaten here on several occasions and in my experience the staff are extremely friendly, welcoming and serve good food at reasonable prices. The menu board includes a note that the food is fresh not fast. For those that want rapid service, there is no shortage of establishments serving food piping hot from the microwave. The Bay Horse is not one of them.

Just moved to the area a few weeks ago. Decided to have lunch here after finishing work early. We walked in, place was empty and it took a while before staff noticed us! We sat down at a table, ordered drinks and food. Was told food would be "15-20 mins, are we ok waiting". That seemed fine, however it was around 50 mins before our food arrived despite the place being almost empty. No apologies for taking so long. I asked where it was and got the reply "it will be a few more minutes" every time! Food was ok but nothing to shout about. I'm sure we'll pop in for a pint or two again but we won't eat here again.

Located in an area popular with walkers, this very traditional pub is popular with locals and visitors. A good selection of exceptionally well kept beers and lagers and freshly prepared meals and snacks make it well worth a visit. some people have complained about slow service, I have never found this to be so, but if food is freshly prepared to order, one must obviously expect to wait a little longer.

Booked a table for 6 people for 8:30 on saturday 3/11/2012 and was worried to see only I tablother couple eating although some people weer at the bar Waited 40 mions for starters and they forgot one which had to be prepared so we had to await longer for our main course. The main course steaks were overcooked and when we asked for sweets where told that the chef had gone so we could not have any. Would never ever recommend this shambles of a place
