Stayed here at the weekend en route to northampton. Once again friendly service and nothing too much trouble. They even took the time to warn us about the Ironman challenge and that it could cause delays. Comfy rooms and despite being on the ground floor beside the car park it wasnt noisy. This was our second visit there andwe won't hesitate to use it again.

We stayed here in July. What a perfect location right by the canal. The setting is wonderful. Ducks accompany you across the car park. The bedrooms are very good. Plenty of space and super bathrooms. The only downside is that the dressing table mirror has very limited adjustment – a minor detail. The check in on arrival was very efficient and friendly. The lady could not do enough for us. It was a very hot evening and she searched the hotel to try to find us a fan that did not make a noise when in use. The next day, whilst we were having a coffee outside after breakfast, we were impressed to watch two gardeners. They worked so hard and cleared all the cuttings up after them. Not even a blade of grass was to be seen! Not an easy task in temperatures of 35c. We would definitely recommend this hotel and will be certain to book again when in Chorley.

We stayed here on long distance cycle from Leeds to Liverpool along the canal. The location is perfect for this as it is right next to the canal.

We stayed on a busy, hot Saturday evening and the large next door restaurant and pub garden were full.

We thought the room and pub food were very good - the staff were friendly the portions generous.

But we were tired after our cycle ride and went to bed early. There's no air conditioning in the rooms and because it was hot and humid we struggled to get to sleep.

Our room was on the ground floor right opposite the pub door, which was open. Sometime after 11pm we opened the window, but the music was still playing and so we had to shut it again. Result, a poor nights sleep of tossing and turning.

In the morning we read about their no quibble refund guarantee if you have a poor nights sleep - which we had.

We checked out and I spoke to Angela about the refund, expecting no quibbles. From Angela's reaction, they obviously don't expect people to take them up on this policy. A long list of quibbles followed:

Quibble 1: all Premier Inns are located next to pubs and it is perfectly reasonable to play music until 11.30.

Quibble 2: the music should have been turned off at the time you are saying you opened the window. (Angela obviously didn't believe me.)

Quibble 3: I will check with the night watchman to see if he can confirm when the music was turned off.

Quibble 4: I'll have to speak to my manager before I can process a refund.

Quibble 5: You'll need to write down your contact details and I'll get back to you once I've looked into it.

In the end I said very firmly that your literature says you have a no quibble refund policy and I didn't expect to have this conversation. She grudgingly processed the refund.

I'm sure some people will agree with Angela that we were being unreasonable, that we should have expected music at 11.30. It was an unusually hot night, and I expect most people don't go to bed that early on a Saturday night.

All of these things may be true - and if they weren't so positively promoting their no quibble refund policy we wouldn't have asked for a refund. We'd just have avoided staying on a Saturday night.

But we did ask and were made to wish we hadn't. We won't be back - which I'm sure will be a great relief to Angela.

We stayed here for two nights for a stop over travelling back from France to Ireland. The hotel is in a lovely location with a canal running out the back with canal boats sailing along, we took a walk along the canal path with the children and it was lovely.

We had a family room on the ground floor which was nice and clean on arrival. It was very warm through out the night, there is a de humidifier in the room but I did find it difficult to sleep with the heat.

There is a lovely restaurant attached which we had dinner in and the food was lovely and reasonable. We sat outside on the tables and had some drinks as the weather was good. The prices again were very reasonable especially as we had just come back from a very expensive France.

We took a drive into Blackpool with the children, it was around 30 mins away, easily accessed by the motorway.

Overall a lovely premier Inn in a nice area.

Stopped here after visiting friends in Blackburn. It was a lovely room and we were greeted in a professional manor by the lovely Trevor. Unfortunately it was let down slightly by people who think it is respectful to others to chat in the corridor and slam doors at 1.30am. There was also an odd (mouldy) car in the car park that has obviously been there for some time, which no one else seems to have noticed (???).

Great hotel, but avoid summer Saturday's and the people who come along with it!
