“Sweet Little Place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 18, 2014

Such a nice little place for coffee and cake. The people who served us were so pleasant and affable, the food was delicious but best of all, I loved the china. It made such a delightful change from the impersonal mugs that you get in chain coffee shops. Lovely, light decor too. My meringue with compote and cream was yummy and my friend's scone was a treat. Nicely priced too. What a fantastic little outing on a February day!

“Bit disappointed”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 9, 2014 via mobile

Have been a few times before and had good experience. Was a little disappointed this time, the cakes were all too similar - no traditional favorites for the kids like chocolate cake and the carrot cake was all gone. Service was very slow and many of our things were missing and we had to keep asking for milk sugar etc. love the place and hope after the revamp it's back to its usual standards. Also the cake is delicious if not on the small side for the prices, especially the loaf style cakes.

Thank you for your review. I am very sorry to hear your visit to our Tea room was disappointing for you. We do try very very hard to please everybody but as our popularity is increasing some days, inevitably, our supply of cakes does diminish somewhat, as the day moves on, but we do try to cater for all tastes.
I hope you will come and visit us again, now that we have re opened after our re vamp.
Many Thanks.

“Great place to enjoy a few hours”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 9, 2014 via mobile

Have visited the tea room and gift shop a few times now and can only say what a delightful oasis this place provides . The cakes are delicious and the tea rooms serve a wide variety of teas, coffee and soft drinks it is difficult to choose just one per visit! Hence a need to return to try more home made delicacies . If you are looking to spend a quiet time and relax or meet friends to catch up check this place out. I find the staff very informative, polite and efficient when dealing with the customers , they never appear flustered even when the tea room is at full capacity. I hope to be making many more visits to this oasis .

“Wonderful Vintage Tea Shop with Fabulous Decor, drinks and cakes”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 31, 2014

Thru the Lookin Glass is a wonderful vintage tea shop in the heart of a rural country village. The decor is so wonderful creating a vintage feel throughout. You can see so much effort has been made to make this a magical place meet and relax with friends. The surroundings are wonderful with beautiful places to walk. Thru the Lookin Glass is such a wonderful find. It has the best coffee I have ever tasted and the most amazing fresh cakes, scones, gorgeous Joe Delucci ice cream, the portions are perfect. I have been a few times now and each time there are different homemade cakes etc with an amazing difference to the normal coffee and cake you would get at other establishments. The atmosphere in the whole place is friendly, caring and very relaxing place to be to meet friends or family and feel like you are in a place of character, happiness and warmth.

When creating our Tea Room, we delighted in creating a wonderful ' Vintage' look with an area that is light and uplifting with gentle accents of colour and an area where the large log burner is, which is always heartily burning away in the Winter months, this area is welcoming and relaxing.
The theme throughout both areas is brought together with lots of details, such as twinkling tea lights and hyacinths in gorgeous vases along with linen tablecloths as a centre piece in gentle subdued colours on each table.
Our cakes and savouries are made with only the finest ingredients and we concentrate on delicious taste rather than volume.
Over the next month, we will be making even more changes to add character and tables, by removing the pattern books on the second level and creating more space as well....... We are really excited about this!
Thank you so much for taking the time to review us, as it allows us to promote all that is wonderful about our Tea Room to all the Trip advisor viewers!
Unfortunately, we can't please everybody, all of the time, but myself and all my lovely colleagues fall over ourselves trying to.
