“Do Knott Miss Out”

Great variety and quality of drink/food. Pub has a traditional feel with a modern twist and the owners are lovely. Quizzes, parties and sport on the tv... What else do you need to ask for!

“Sunday dinner”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 3, 2013 via mobile

Friendly landlord, fabulous real ales, delicious food, great prices, real fire, and a welcoming atmosphere. A great place for a lunch with family or to drink real ale with the guys. Butnley is richer for this venture. Good luck to them. :)

“Home Cooked Food, Great Value, Lovely Surroundings”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 27, 2013

Went on a Sunday lunchtime with my husband and 2 year old daughter. I had the half soup half sandwich option, husband had the pork, apple and cider pie from the specials menu and daughter had a ham sandwich. Log fire going in the background which was nice. The food was excellent quality and very good for money. We had coffees too which were good quality. It wasn't busy when we went which I was surprised about, I can only think that it's because word hasn't spread yet. We will be back.

“Great homemade food served in family friendly pub”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 20, 2013 via mobile

This is the second family meal we've had in The Queen since they started serving food, and it won't be the last.

Since taking over The Queen, owners Graham and Carol have transformed it into a friendly welcoming pub with a traditional but stylish feel. The real ales are great, the wines superb value, and now they're serving teas, coffees and milkshakes too.

For dinner I chose the Luxury Fishermans Pie from the specials menu. It was divine - big chunks of white fish, smoked fish, salmon and prawns in a delicious sauce, covered with scrummy mashed potato. My husband chose the cheese and onion pie, a favourite of his and the best he's ever tasted. Portion sizes are big, but not so massive that you end up leaving half on the plate - I hate waste! The children had various items from the well thought out and down-to-earth menu - home made soup, cheese on toast, beef burger, home cut chips. They have healthy appetites and didn't manage to eat absolutely everything, but enjoyed what they had.

We didn't have much room left for puddings, but the home made cakes looked superb. The children plumped for the Special Oreo Milkshakes which despite their size and the mound of cream and crunched up biscuits on top were soon polished off. Scrummy!

If you're after really good quality home made food at reasonable prices, served in a family friendly pub, look no further.

“Jewel in the crown!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 11, 2013 via mobile

Have visited this newly re-furbished pub/ eatery on 2 occasions and have not been disappointed. The food is cooked to order and is lovely traditional home cooking. Excellent value and beautifully served. A lovely touch are the bone china tea cups and teapots...a nice touch. Atmosphere is warm, friendly and welcoming. What a treat for the people of Cliviger. We have been visiting from Plymouth and are very envious! I wish Carol and Graham, the owners, all the best in their new venture and I would encourage everyone to go. You will not be disappointed!
